MERANTI — Ahead of Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri, PT Timah Tbk continues its efforts to distribute sacrificial animals across its operational areas. As a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, the company even delivers the animals to island communities.
This annual initiative is part of PT Timah’s regular program to foster compassion and solidarity between the company and the community, while also sharing the joy of Eid al-Adha.
The distribution of sacrificial animals in Riau Province began on Monday, June 3, 2025. PT Timah delivered a total of 11 sacrificial animals to communities in Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province.
Via sea routes, PT Timah’s CST Team reached several locations to deliver the livestock directly to residents. The arrival of the animals was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from the locals.
In Rangsang District, the animals were distributed to the villages of Topang, Tanjung Samak, Gayung Kiri, Tanjung Bakau, Dwi Tunggal, Tanjung Gemuk, and Tanjung Medang, as well as to various government and vertical agencies.
PT Timah made a point of reaching even the most remote villages in its operational areas. One such village is Sungai Gayung Kiri in Rangsang District, which has consistently received sacrificial animals from the state-owned company every year.
Sungai Gayung Kiri Village Head, Perdana Noriowati, expressed her gratitude for the continued support from PT Timah.
"Alhamdulillah, our village continues to receive this support. PT Timah’s commitment to the community is truly commendable. Every year, our residents benefit from the sacrificial cattle during Eid al-Adha," she said, smiling.
She also noted that PT Timah's support is not limited to Eid al-Adha. Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the company routinely provides basic food packages to fishermen and underprivileged residents in her village.
"So far, PT Timah’s contributions are unmatched. We are very thankful for the assistance they’ve consistently provided," she added.
To her, PT Timah is not just a mining company that once operated in the area, but a reliable social partner that remains engaged with the community, even after production activities have ceased.
Sacrificial animals were also donated to the Office of the Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) in Selatpanjang. The Head of KSOP Selatpanjang, Derita Adi Prasetyo, expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s continued goodwill and partnership with various vertical agencies in Meranti Islands.
"We are grateful for the support PT Timah has provided. This reflects the synergy we’ve built over the years," said Derita.
He emphasized that such cooperation between businesses and government institutions is vital, especially in island regions that face unique logistical and social challenges.
"Even though PT Timah is no longer actively mining in Meranti, they remain present and impactful through social programs that reach various levels of society and government institutions. We hope this strong relationship continues, with PT Timah not only focusing on business, but also caring deeply for the community and the surrounding environment," he added.
To meet the demand for sacrificial animals, PT Timah collaborates directly with local livestock farmers, supporting and empowering the local economy. (*)
