PT Timah Distributes Ready-to-Eat Meals to Flood-Affected Residents in Pangkalpinang

PANGKALPINANG – PT Timah moved quickly to assist residents affected by flooding in Pangkalpinang City by distributing ready-to-eat meals to communities in Rawa Bangun and Kejaksaan sub-districts.

Hundreds of meal packages were symbolically handed over to the Head of the Pangkalpinang City Social Affairs Office, Khotaman Barka, in Kejaksaan Sub-district on Tuesday (April 22, 2025).

As reported, hundreds of homes in Pangkalpinang were inundated by floodwaters following heavy rainfall that struck the city on Monday (April 21, 2025).

Khotaman Barka expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s assistance to flood victims, stating that such support is urgently needed, especially as no public kitchens have been established yet.

“This aid is truly helpful because the government has limitations. That’s why we are building communication with various parties to help the community, including PT Timah. Alhamdulillah, the response was swift, timely, and exactly what the people needed,” he said.

He added that several areas in Pangkalpinang had been flooded since the previous day due to the combination of heavy rain and high tides. The most affected areas included Rawa Bangun and Taman Sari.

“Some areas are still underwater, so ready-to-eat meals are essential. So far, in various disaster situations, PT Timah has always been present to support affected communities, including during previous tornado events. We hope PT Timah will continue to communicate and prosper, so they can keep helping the people,” he added.

Meanwhile, Yuli, the Head of Kejaksaan Sub-district, said the assistance greatly benefited the flood-affected residents.

“Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for the aid from PT Timah. It helps ease the food needs of our affected residents. PT Timah is the first to respond and support our community,” she stated.

Similarly, Yofanriansah, Head of Rawa Bangun Sub-district, reported that around 500 households in his area were impacted by the flood. The worst-hit areas were RW 1 and RW 3.

“Yesterday, the water reached up to 30 cm, and hundreds of residents were affected. We thank PT Timah for their immediate response. We were surprised but very grateful for their swift action and concern for the community,” he said. (*)
