PT Timah Consistently Supports Environmental Preservation Through Regular Tree Planting Programs

PANGKALPINANG – PT Timah Tbk remains committed to implementing good mining practices in its business operations, with sustainable environmental management being one of its core focuses.

One of PT Timah’s key environmental management programs involves regular tree planting on degraded and post-mining lands.

This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility, aiming to rehabilitate critical lands and enhance the quality of the environment.

As a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, PT Timah is also dedicated to supporting environmental conservation and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

The types of trees planted vary widely, including productive trees, endemic species, mangroves, fruit-bearing trees, and other varieties. For its 48th anniversary, PT Timah planted 48,000 trees across its operational areas.

PT Timah’s tree-planting efforts involve collaboration with various stakeholders, such as environmental communities, local governments, and students. The company also supports reforestation initiatives promoted by the government.

PT Timah has planted thousands of mangrove trees in the Bangka Belitung Islands and Riau Islands provinces.

Anggi Siahaan, PT Timah’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, stated that regular tree planting aims not only to restore degraded lands but also to support ecosystem sustainability and improve air quality.

"Tree planting has become a routine agenda for PT Timah as part of its ongoing efforts to protect the environment. PT Timah also collaborates with various parties to promote tree planting," Anggi explained. (*)
