GEMURUH - PT Timah, in collaboration with the Karimun District Attorney's Office, held a social service event for the community in Gemuruh Village, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province.
In addition to the social service of distributing hundreds of food packages, PT Timah and the Karimun District Attorney's Office conducted environmental preservation activities by planting productive fruit trees at the Tok Kacang Village Hall in Gemuruh Village on Friday, February 23, 2024.
Karimun District Attorney, Priyambudi, stated that this activity is a form of harmonization with the community. The series of activities included mangrove inspections, planting productive trees, and distributing food packages.
He also appreciated PT Timah for collaborating with the Karimun District Attorney's Office to organize social service activities and environmental preservation programs.
"This event provides food packages to the community, followed by the planting of productive trees and inspections of mangrove locations around Gemuruh Village," he said.
Priyambudi mentioned that the fruit tree seedlings were handed over to the Village Head of Gemuruh, Ari Supriadi, who would distribute them to the community. The types of fruit tree seedlings distributed include mango, guava, avocado, and others.
"The nutritional content of fruits is beneficial for our bodies if consumed properly and according to our needs," he said.
He appreciated PT Timah for its mangrove planting efforts, noting that the mangroves have grown well and are beneficial to the community.
"I see that the development of mangroves here is quite good. If managed properly, it will have a positive impact on the environment and the community, as mangroves can reduce the impact of abrasion and provide a good habitat for coastal ecosystems," he added.
Meanwhile, the Village Head of Gemuruh, Ari Supriadi, appreciated the Karimun District Attorney's Office for providing social assistance to low-income communities.
"We also thank PT Timah for always being present for the people of Gemuruh Village and supporting community activities. We, the residents of Gemuruh Village, feel fortunate to have PT Timah among us and supporting the activities carried out here," he concluded. (*)
