PT Timah Cares for Flood-Affected Residents in Belo Laut Village, Distributes Food Packages

BANGKA BARAT – PT Timah responded swiftly to assist residents affected by floods in Dusun II and Dusun III Belo Laut, Mentok District, West Bangka Regency, by distributing food packages to those impacted.

The food packages were symbolically handed over by PT Timah's Director of Operations and Production, Nur Adi Kuncoro, at Wisma Majapahit Mentok, West Bangka, on Monday, January 20, 2025.

The flooding occurred due to heavy rainfall that affected the area since Sunday, January 19, 2025, causing the water levels to rise up to knee height and disrupting residents' daily activities.

The head of Belo Laut Village, Ibnu, expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s quick response in assisting the community.

"During the K3 Assembly, we were invited by PT Timah, and the Director of Operations and Production symbolically handed over the food packages, with 75 packages distributed to flood-affected residents," he said.

According to Ibnu, PT Timah has frequently supported the community in various aspects.

"Thank you to PT Timah for their prompt response to our request. This is not the first time, and it's not just in times of disaster; PT Timah is also concerned in other areas. Recently, they helped the elderly, and there are many other social assistance programs," Ibnu added.

Meanwhile, Saad, one of the recipients of the aid, shared that his house is frequently flooded.

"When it rains heavily, water enters the house, up to knee height, and it's a common occurrence. It's very disruptive, especially since we're no longer young. The mud enters the house and needs to be cleaned," said Saad at his home on Tuesday afternoon, January 21, 2025.

Accompanied by his wife, Rosita (64), Saad was moved when receiving aid from PT Timah.

"Thank you to PT Timah for caring for us. We are very grateful for the help. May PT Timah continue to prosper, and may its employees be blessed with good fortune," he said.

Similarly, Mariah (58) expressed her gratitude for the aid from PT Timah.

"Alhamdulillah, I am thankful and would like to express my appreciation to PT Timah for caring for us and lightening the burden of residents affected by the flood," she said. (*)
