KARIMUN -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of education in its operational areas through various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
Most recently, PT TIMAH provided educational financial assistance to Mohd. Aditya Kurniawan, a high-achieving student from Sawang Village, West Kundur District, Karimun Regency, to support his transition to senior high school.
Aditya is the second son of Amir, who works various odd jobs to provide for his family. The educational assistance from PT TIMAH was used to purchase school supplies after Aditya graduated from State Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 1 West Kundur and enrolled at State Senior High School (SMA Negeri) 4 West Kundur.
Despite his family's financial challenges, Aditya achieved outstanding academic success by graduating as the top-ranked student in his junior high school.
Amir expressed his gratitude for PT TIMAH's support, saying that the assistance significantly eased his family's financial burden in preparing for his son's new school year.
"Alhamdulillah, this assistance means so much to our family. Before receiving it, I was worried about how I would afford my son's school supplies because my income is unpredictable. Sometimes I work at sea, and other times on land, so my earnings are not always enough to meet our family's needs," Amir said.
He explained that although tuition at public schools is free, other educational necessities such as uniforms, books, stationery, and learning materials still require a considerable amount of money.
"As a parent, I have always wanted my child to continue his education. Even though our financial situation is limited, we continue to do everything we can to help him achieve his dreams. Thankfully, with this assistance, we no longer have to struggle as much to buy his school supplies," he added.
According to Amir, PT TIMAH's educational assistance program provides hope for underprivileged families with high-achieving children, ensuring they have the opportunity to continue their education. He hopes the program will continue because it delivers meaningful benefits to those who truly need it.
