PT TIMAH Brings Community Service Month to Pangkalpinang, 151 Children Receive Free Mass Circumcision

PANGKALPINANG -- The sound of children’s laughter mixed with occasional cries could be heard from the Graha Building at PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s Head Office on Saturday (August 22, 2026). Some children ran around while holding their parents’ hands, while others tried to hide their nervousness before entering the treatment room.

The lively atmosphere began in the morning, as hundreds of children and their parents arrived to take part in a free mass circumcision program held as part of PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month. A total of 151 children participated in the event, which was one of the activities held to commemorate PT TIMAH’s 50th anniversary under the theme “Timah for the People.”

The mass circumcision program is one of PT TIMAH’s efforts to show its commitment to the community by providing direct benefits and supporting children’s healthy growth and development.

One of the parents, Romadani, expressed his gratitude that his son, Yazid, was able to participate in PT TIMAH’s free circumcision program. He also praised the medical team, describing their service as fast and friendly and saying they helped make the children feel more relaxed throughout the procedure.

“Alhamdulillah, we are very happy. Before the procedure, the nurses and doctor helped him relax first. After the circumcision, they also explained how to take care of the wound. They talked with him and made him feel comfortable. Overall, we were very satisfied with the service from the nurses and everyone involved,” he said.

According to Romadani, the registration process was also easy and convenient. He learned about the program from a family member and immediately registered through the link that was shared.

He said the mass circumcision program was very helpful to the community and expressed his hope that similar activities could continue to be held on a regular basis.

“Alhamdulillah, this program has been very helpful. I hope it can continue to be held every year, not only for PT TIMAH’s anniversary, but also during August, Indonesia’s Independence Day, and other special occasions. Hopefully, programs like this can continue and provide support to the community,” he said.

Reni, a resident of Gebek 2, expressed similar appreciation. She learned about the free mass circumcision program from a relative and immediately registered her child.

According to her, PT TIMAH’s free circumcision program provides significant benefits to the community, particularly families in need.

“We are very grateful and truly helped. Thank you to PT TIMAH for helping us,” she said.

Meanwhile, the children who had completed the circumcision procedure were also visibly excited. In addition to receiving free medical services, each participant received a gift package from PT TIMAH.

One of the participants, nine-year-old Fathan, admitted that he was nervous before entering the circumcision room. Hearing some of the other children undergoing the procedure made him feel even more frightened.

However, his anxiety eased after meeting the doctor and nurses. The circumcision procedure was completed quickly, helping him feel calm again.

“I was a little scared beforehand, but after it was over, I was happy,” Fathan said.

He said the circumcision procedure did not take long and that the pain was not too severe. Fathan even described the feeling of receiving the anesthetic injection as being like a bee sting.

“It felt like a bee stinging you,” he said innocently.

Fathan said he was happy to take part in the free mass circumcision program. He was also excited to receive a gift package and a cash incentive after participating in the event.

“I’m happy I got some money,” he said. (*)
