PT TIMAH and West Bangka Police Collaborate to Utilize Former Mining Land Through Productive Tree Planting

WEST BANGKA -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk, in collaboration with the West Bangka Police, the West Bangka Regency Government, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), and the community of Air Limau Village, carried out a productive tree-planting activity on former mining land in Air Limau Village, Mentok District, West Bangka Regency, on Friday (June 12, 2026).

The activity is part of a collective effort to promote the productive use of post-mining land so that it can provide greater environmental benefits while increasing the economic value of the land through the cultivation of productive crops.

The planting of various fruit trees, including durian, longan, and rambutan, was organized as part of the series of events commemorating the 80th Bhayangkara Day, initiated by the West Bangka Police.

West Bangka Police Chief AKBP Pradana Aditya Nugraha said that this year’s Bhayangkara Day commemoration includes a variety of social initiatives that provide direct benefits to the community.

“In commemoration of the 80th Bhayangkara Day, we are carrying out several social activities, including tree planting, trimming trees that obstruct road access, and clean-up efforts along roads, places of worship, and coastal areas,” he said.

According to the Police Chief, the collaboration among various stakeholders in this activity demonstrates a shared commitment to environmental preservation while also strengthening relationships between institutions and the community.

“We would like to thank all parties for their support, including PT TIMAH, which has contributed to this tree-planting activity. We hope that what we are doing together will bring benefits to both the community and the environment,” he said.

West Bangka Deputy Regent Yus Derahman expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the West Bangka Police and PT TIMAH in optimizing former mining land that had not previously been utilized to its full potential.

According to him, planting productive crops is an appropriate step to create added value on post-mining land.

“We appreciate this initiative. Rather than leaving the land idle, it is better to plant trees that can eventually provide both economic and environmental benefits. We hope the trees planted today will grow well,” he said.

Meanwhile, Air Limau Village Head Mexi Diansah stated that the activity forms part of efforts to reclaim former mining land through a productive and sustainable approach.

According to him, the collaboration between the West Bangka Police, PT TIMAH, and the village government is expected to transform post-mining land into an area that provides greater value and benefits to the community.

“This former mining land is not only being restored but can also generate something of value. By planting productive crops, the community will be able to enjoy economic benefits from the post-mining land in the future,” he said. (*)
