PT TIMAH and Indonesian Red Cross Work Together to Maintain Blood Supplies for Communities

PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to strengthen its collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to help meet the community’s need for blood supplies. The partnership is carried out through blood donation drives held regularly on various occasions, including as part of the activities marking PT TIMAH’s 50th anniversary.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, held under the theme “Timah untuk Rakyat” (Tin for the People), PT TIMAH organized blood donation drives at eight locations across the provinces of Bangka Belitung Islands and Riau Islands, as well as Jakarta, collecting a total of 811 bags of blood.

PT TIMAH worked with PMI chapters across its operational areas to organize the blood donation drives. The initiative is one of the company’s concrete efforts, together with PMI, to help those in need.

Chairman of the Pangkalpinang City PMI, Muhammad Iqbal, expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH’s consistent support for blood donation activities. He said the partnership between PT TIMAH and PMI has been maintained on an ongoing basis and has benefited people who need blood transfusions.

He said the collaboration between PMI and PT TIMAH is important not only to help maintain adequate blood supplies but also as part of efforts to foster social awareness in the community.

“Every year, Alhamdulillah, we continue to partner with PT TIMAH, and we hope this collaboration will continue and expand into other humanitarian activities,” he said.

According to Iqbal, the demand for blood in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province remains relatively high. Therefore, support from companies and community participation in blood donation are essential to maintaining adequate blood supplies.

Similarly, Chairwoman of the South Bangka PMI, Debby Vita Dewi, said the blood donation drive organized by PT TIMAH in collaboration with PMI was highly relevant to the community’s needs, as demand for blood in South Bangka Regency remains high.

“As Chairwoman of the South Bangka PMI, I know that the demand for blood in South Bangka Regency is very high. Therefore, it is very appropriate for PT TIMAH to organize this activity,” said Debby, who also serves as Deputy Regent of South Bangka.

Debby hopes that the spirit of sharing and caring demonstrated through the initiative can be sustained and expanded so that more people can benefit.

Beyond the company’s anniversary celebrations, PT TIMAH also regularly collaborates with PMI to organize blood donation drives and support public education on blood donation, encouraging more people to become blood donors. (*)
