SOUTH BANGKA -- Discussions on updating PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s Community Development Master Plan (RIPPM) document are ongoing. This time, a public consultation forum was held in South Bangka Regency as part of efforts to design empowerment programs that are more aligned with the needs of communities in the company’s operational areas.
The event, held at the Wasprod Office Hall of PT TIMAH on Wednesday (May 6, 2026), served as a dialogue platform bringing together the company, local government, village officials, and community representatives.
This forum is expected to produce more targeted, sustainable empowerment program formulations that deliver tangible impacts for the people of South Bangka, while aligning with the company’s ESG implementation.
The public consultation also involved various strategic stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Energy and Mineral Resources Office of Bangka Belitung Islands Province, the Regional Secretary of South Bangka Regency, Bappeda, the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, the Cooperatives, MSMEs and Trade Office, the Social Affairs Office, and the Environmental Office of South Bangka Regency.
In addition, six sub-district heads, 20 village heads, and youth representatives from the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) of South Bangka took part in the discussions, enriching the perspectives and ensuring they reflect the real needs of the community on the ground.
The Head of Corporate Communication Department of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, stated that similar FGD sessions had previously been conducted in West Bangka Regency, Bangka Regency, and other operational areas.
The RIPPM update forum serves as an important momentum to gather input from various stakeholders, particularly local governments and village officials who have direct understanding of conditions in their respective areas.
According to Anggi, synergy and openness from all parties are key to ensuring the RIPPM formulation is well-targeted.
“This FGD for updating the RIPPM is carried out for the benefit of the people of South Bangka Regency. It is a very important momentum to absorb suggestions from local governments and village officials who play strategic roles in their respective regions, so they can be integrated with the community development programs that will be implemented by the company,” she said.
She added that through constructive and open discussions, PT TIMAH hopes the programs developed will not only be sustainable but also capable of delivering real improvements to community welfare.
In the RIPPM update discussions, there are three main focus areas. First, to directly capture local aspirations and ideas from communities and local governments.
Second, to openly present the achievements of previous RIPPM programs. Third, to formulate more effective collaboration patterns between the company, regency government, and communities in addressing various development challenges in South Bangka’s villages.
To ensure more focused discussions, the forum was divided into five main pillars of community empowerment: education, health, increasing real community income, strengthening economic independence, and environmental preservation.
Through this pillar-based approach, each proposal submitted by participants is expected to be more focused, measurable, and easier to implement in future programs.
The Regional Secretary of South Bangka Regency, Hefi Nuranda, emphasized that the RIPPM update must deliver direct benefits to the community, not merely serve as a ceremonial agenda.
“We hope this FGD is not just ceremonial, but truly provides positive impacts for the people of South Bangka, encourages community independence, improves living standards, and delivers benefits that are directly felt by the community,” said Hefi.
He also expressed hope that future program implementation will address real community needs, especially in areas affected by mining activities, so that the company’s presence can bring balanced benefits to the social and economic environment of local communities. (*)
