PANGKALPINANG -- The Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program implemented by PT Timah in 2023 involves 45,294 communities in the company's operational areas.
PT Timah implements the TJSL program in various programs ranging from health, empowerment of indigenous communities, education, fisheries, creative economy, MSMEs, and environmental conservation, which has provided benefits to communities around the mine.
Members of the MIND ID PT Timah Mining Industry holding have involved the local community, regional government, and various related parties to ensure that the benefits of the Company's TJSL program can be felt by the community.
The TJSL program run by PT Timah is also tailored to the needs and potential of the community. This is the company's effort to stimulate the community's economy.
In an effort to increase access to education, PT has provided scholarships for communities around the mine. This scholarship covers educational costs, books, and a range of supporting activities to help them reach their maximum potential.
PT Timah is committed to maintaining environmental sustainability. Through the TJSL program, PT Timah has planted thousands of trees, adopting environmentally friendly technology in operations. These steps not only help reduce the company's carbon footprint but also encourage environmental awareness among local communities.
In the health context, PT Timah also organizes free health programs, through the Healthy Car program, this free health service has provided access to health services for thousands of people.
This innovative TJSL program has received a positive response from the community, government, and various related parties. Not only does it provide direct benefits to thousands of people.
The steps taken by PT Timah not only build strong relationships with the community but also the company's commitment to grow and develop with the community.
With a CSR program that focuses on community empowerment and sustainability, PT Timah grows and develops the community and supports development in the area.
One community group that has benefited from PT Timah's TJLS Program is KUPS Mudong Garam Lestari, Padang Village, East Belitung.
Chairman of KUPS Mudong Garama Lestari, Ahartoni said, PT Timah's TJSL program had helped them in developing the salt business which had been run by KUPS Mudong Garam Lestari (MGL).
According to him, their group utilized assistance from PT Timah, such as adding a new vlog with a cement floor and repairing a leaking plastic vlog membrane.
"The assistance from PT Timah's CSR was used to purchase supporting infrastructure for salt production, including purchasing water tanks, water suction robin machines, scales, and other infrastructure," he said.
Thus, the impact of PT Timah's program assistance through the TJSL program has helped the community and increased the income of their business group.
This is the same as what was expressed by the Chairman of the Bersatu Fishermen's Group, Kenanga Village, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency, Karyadi.
Their group was involved by PT Timah to build and sink hundreds of fish FADs in Rebo Waters. This is to make it easier for fishing communities to find fish.
According to Karyadi, fishermen in particular have felt the benefits of the presence of FADs because they no longer need to go out to sea because the fish have gathered and the distance covered is also shorter.
They also distributed these FAD sinking points to local fishermen, so that other fishermen such as fishermen from Kenanga Village, Rebo, Parit Padang, and Jurung Village can also experience this.
He hopes that this FAD immersion activity can become an annual routine agenda carried out with PT Timah Tbk so that there will be more FADs in the Rebo Waters.
"Hopefully this can be done every year because, for fishermen with small engine capacities, it is very helpful. Because the coverage radius of 3-4 miles is still relatively close and easy to access," said Karyadi. (*)
