Providing Educational Scholarships for Communities in the Mining Area, a Concrete Step by PT Timah Tbk to Improve Human Resource Quality

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk continues its efforts to enhance the quality of human resources in the mining area. One of the initiatives taken by PT Timah Tbk is to provide educational scholarships for children in the company's operational areas.

As a member of the Indonesian mining holding company MIND ID, PT Timah Tbk recognizes that education is a crucial aspect in improving the quality of human resources in the mining area.

Since 2000, PT Timah Tbk has consistently offered educational scholarships to students in the company's operational areas through the CSR program, Pemali Boarding School.

The Pemali Boarding School program has produced hundreds of alumni who have pursued careers in various fields. This educational scholarship targets outstanding but economically disadvantaged high school graduates in the company's operational areas.

The scholarship program covers education expenses, accommodation, living expenses, and educational needs for students placed in PT Timah Tbk's dormitory, attending formal education at SMAN 1 Pemali, Bangka Regency.

PT Timah Tbk's commitment to supporting the education sector is inseparable from the support of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises led by Erick Thohir, who continues to encourage state-owned enterprises to contribute to improving the quality of human resources.

The PT Timah Tbk scholarship class program has proven beneficial to students, as expressed by one of the participants, Naurah Ashira, a 10th-grade student at SMAN 1 Pemali.

"I have experienced many benefits from being selected for the PT Timah Tbk scholarship program, especially in helping alleviate the burden on my parents. I have also become a more disciplined and rule-abiding person, able to cultivate a competitive spirit by competing with other talented individuals," she said.

She mentioned that PT Timah Tbk provides full support for the education process, from facilities in the dormitory to other activities that support their academic abilities.

"With the scholarship class program, PT Timah Tbk has greatly helped me and my parents financially and academically. By participating in the PT Timah Tbk scholarship program, my school and living expenses during my time in the dormitory are covered by PT Timah Tbk, so we can focus on studying," she added.

She stated that the program has motivated her to maintain high competitiveness to achieve success.

"The PT Timah Tbk scholarship class program can help improve the quality of human resources in the mining area. This program helps us to pursue our aspirations as long as we work hard in our studies," she emphasized.

Likewise, Dzakwan Ariqah, a student from Manggar, East Belitung Regency, expressed his gratitude for being part of the PT Timah Tbk scholarship class program. He has experienced many positive changes that motivate him to continue growing.

"I feel that I have developed into a much more independent and responsible person. I am motivated to pursue knowledge earnestly in a highly competitive environment, pushing me to strive for better learning every day," he said.

He also appreciated PT Timah Tbk's commitment to fully support the PT Timah Tbk scholarship class program by providing facilities and their personal development.

"The PT Timah Tbk scholarship class program can help me and my parents financially because they no longer have to worry about the burden of sending me to school. In the dormitory, we are not only taught to chase grades in school but also required to have good character. This is aimed at ensuring that we not only become successful individuals but also valuable and characterful individuals when we enter society," he explained.

Dzakwan Ariqah hopes that PT Timah Tbk can continue and improve this program so that its benefits can continue to be felt by the communities in the mining area.

"This is also a form of PT Timah's concern that should be continued and even become an example for other companies to continue caring about education in Indonesia," he concluded. (*)
