PANGKALPINANG — PT Timah remains committed to supporting efforts to improve the quality of life for communities within its operational areas through its livable housing assistance program. This initiative also aligns with the Government’s program to alleviate poverty by providing adequate basic facilities.
In 2024, PT Timah facilitated the construction of 33 units of livable houses for communities in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and the Riau Islands Province.
This program aims to assist communities in operational areas, particularly victims of natural disasters and low-income families who require safe and comfortable housing.
“Through our corporate social responsibility program, the company strives to provide tangible benefits to surrounding communities. With this initiative, we hope to help people access decent and comfortable homes,” said PT Timah's Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan.
In implementing the livable housing program, PT Timah also collaborates with local governments, the military (TNI), and the community. This program is hoped to improve the overall quality of life.
One of the beneficiaries of PT Timah’s livable housing program, Sarimah, an elderly resident from West Bangka Regency, expressed her deep gratitude for PT Timah’s assistance. She explained that relying solely on her resources would have made it impossible to repair her home.
“Thank you to everyone who helped build my house. I could no longer afford to build a house because of my age and limited means. May Allah reward you with good health and continued success,” said Sarimah, as quoted in PT Timah’s earlier reports.
Similarly, Auyah (67), another beneficiary from West Bangka who received assistance after a fire incident, shared her gratitude.
“I’m grateful; there’s a silver lining behind the disaster. After the fire, many people came to help me rebuild my home. Thank you to everyone who has helped,” she said. (*)
