PANGKALPINANG -- As part of its commitment to supporting communities in its operational areas, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk once again demonstrated its care through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program by providing medical expense assistance for Bintang Shaka (4), a resident of Rejosari, Pangkalpinang City.
The assistance was provided to help ease the family’s financial burden for medical treatment. Bintang has been diagnosed with hypospadias and requires ongoing medical care.
He has now been referred to a hospital in Jakarta to undergo medical procedures that involve significant costs.
Bintang’s father, Suprianto (45), expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the attention and support provided by PT TIMAH Tbk. According to him, the assistance is very meaningful given the family’s limited financial condition.
“Bintang has hypospadias and must be referred to Jakarta because there are no pediatric urologists available in Bangka yet. We are currently in Jakarta for his treatment and surgery,” Suprianto said on Tuesday (February 24, 2026).
He explained that they had faced financial difficulties, particularly with accommodation and living expenses, which are quite costly. In addition, not all medical expenses are covered by the national health insurance program.
“Alhamdulillah, we are very thankful for PT TIMAH’s concern and assistance for my child’s treatment. This support means a lot because some medications are not covered, so this assistance will be used to cover those medical costs,” he said.
He added that the family’s unstable financial condition, combined with his work as a day laborer, is only enough to meet their daily needs.
“Going forward, we hope PT TIMAH continues to prosper so more people can be helped. Thank you, PT TIMAH, because this assistance means so much for my child,” he concluded.
This medical expense assistance program is part of PT TIMAH Tbk’s commitment to improving public health. The company consistently provides various forms of social support, ranging from healthcare and education assistance to economic empowerment and environmental conservation initiatives.
