Protecting Employees' Safety While Driving, PT Timah Holds Socialization on Safety Riding

WEST BANGKA -- To improve driving safety for employees, PT Timah Tbk in synergy with the Traffic Unit of the West Bangka Police carried out socialization of safety riding at Wisma Sriwijaya, Thursday (6/10/2022).

This activity was attended by employees of PT Timah Tbk, the participants were given an understanding of driving theory and taught good and correct driving practices.

This socialization is considered important to maintain the safety of employees and other traffic drivers.

Kasatlantas Polres West Bangka AKP M. Hardi in conveying several causes of accidents including the wrong culture of the community when driving, causing traffic accidents to fall.

He mentioned several causes of traffic accidents, namely, using cell phones while driving, underage drivers, three-wheeled passengers, T, not wearing an SNI helmet, and not using a seat belt. Drinking alcohol while driving, violating traffic signs

"The culture of the people who do not obey traffic rules when driving is the cause of accidents," explained M Hardi.

He reminded PT Timah employees to use standard SNI helmets and obey traffic rules.

"Work helmets are not allowed to be used on roads, they must be SNI standard helmets that are in accordance with safety. Obeying all traffic rules is mandatory for all road users," he said.

Meanwhile, KBO Then Ipda Yos Sudarso shared safety tips while driving. Here are the tips;

1. Before traveling, first check the condition of the vehicle that will be used. The parts that must be checked are gasoline, oil, chains, tires, lights, batteries or batteries, nuts, mirrors, clutch, and brakes.
2. Make sure the Vehicle Number Certificate (STNK) is always carried as proof of the legal vehicle being used. Always carry a driving license (SIM) as proof that it is legal to drive a vehicle.
3. Use a standard helmet, the helmet glass must be clean, and the helmet can be full face or half face.
4. Use gloves that easily absorb sweat and are not slippery when holding the motorcycle handle, even better if it is equipped with hard materials on the front of the hand.
5. Wear a jacket that is able to protect all parts of the body both from the wind and when an impact occurs, both small and large, if necessary wear a special vest. Also, consider good ventilation so that the jacket is comfortable to use.
6. If driving in the dark, it is better to use a jacket or vest with fluorescent colors.
7. Use separate raincoats (tops and pants) with materials that are not easily torn and are impermeable to water.
8. Wear shoes that are comfortable and safe for all layers of the foot. At least cover the ankle area. Don't get used to wearing sandals when driving.
9. Obey traffic signs and lights.
10. Maintain etiquette and vigilance when driving.
