Preventing Stunting: PT Timah and AIMI Educate Pemali Boarding School Students

BANGKA – PT Timah remains committed to supporting the government’s efforts in combating stunting, contributing to the vision of a Golden Generation 2045.

As a member of MIND ID Holding, PT Timah has launched the Kemunting Program (Kegiatan Menurunkan Stunting), an initiative focused on preventing and addressing stunting in the company’s operational areas.

Beyond educating parents and pregnant women, PT Timah also extends stunting prevention awareness to students at Pemali Boarding School PT Timah.

In collaboration with the Indonesian Breastfeeding Mothers Association (AIMI) Bangka Belitung, PT Timah conducted a stunting education session for Pemali Boarding School students on Saturday (February 1, 2025).

The session covered two main topics Teen reproductive health – addressing the well-being of both male and female students, and Balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyles – providing practical steps for early stunting prevention.

Head of Education and Training at AIMI Bangka Belitung, Lizulka Ulban Driati, emphasized the importance of structured education, stating that stunting prevention should begin from adolescence to adulthood rather than focusing solely on mothers and young children.

“This is a crucial first step. We believe that educating teenagers today will equip them with the knowledge and preparation they need—both mentally and physically—for the future. When they become parents, they will be ready to raise healthy children,” said Lizulka.

She acknowledged that teen reproductive health remains a taboo topic but noted that with the right approach and qualified speakers, students can receive and understand the correct information effectively.

“Discussing teen reproductive health is often seen as taboo, but with a relaxed approach and guidance from competent experts, students can access accurate and relevant information in the right way. InshaAllah, they will fully understand and benefit from it,” she added.

Lizulka also expressed her appreciation to PT Timah for fully supporting this educational initiative.

“Thank you to PT Timah Tbk for allowing us to share knowledge with the students. We hope to continue collaborating on positive programs like this in the future,” she concluded.

Another speaker, dr. Rosalin Yuniarti Maruf, SpPD, delivered a session on balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyles, emphasizing the importance of proper nutrient intake to support optimal growth and development.

The session received enthusiastic participation from students, who actively engaged in discussions and asked thoughtful questions about the topics presented.

Through this stunting education initiative, PT Timah and AIMI aim to increase awareness and knowledge on stunting prevention, ensuring that the younger generation is well-prepared for a healthier future and contributing to the realization of Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045. (*)
