PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk's Anti-Tin Drug Movement (GERANAT) in collaboration with BNN Bangka Belitung Islands Province conducted urine tests on employees, Wednesday (18/1/2023). The activity, which was carried out in one of the offices within the PT Timahi area, was attended by the Head of the BNNP Babel MZ Muttaqien, the Head of the BNN for Pangkalpinang City Noer Wisnanto, and the Chairman of GERANAT Fery Gunawan.
From this examination, no indications of the use of prohibited addictive substances were found from all the samples examined.
The urine test is a concrete step taken by GERANAT to mitigate and prevent drug abuse within PT Timah Tbk.
"This activity in collaboration with BNNP is one of GERANAT's programs to prevent drug abuse while at the same time socializing the work culture of employees with morals within PT Timah Tbk. Apart from urine tests, GERANAT will also conduct education and outreach to fellow employees," said Fery Gunawan.
Fery added that later, urine tests would not only be carried out at the head office, but also in other operational areas of PT Timah Tbk.
"In the future, similar activities will be carried out at other sites and will continue to be carried out on an ongoing basis," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Pangkalpinang BNNP Noer Wisnanto said that his party was working with various agencies and the Government to conduct urine tests as an effort to prevent drug abuse.
"We welcome this urine test, because this is an effort to mitigate, educate, and socialize drug abuse. We will submit the results to Management later," he said.
He said, based on Presidential Instruction No. 2 of 2020 concerning the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Eradication of the Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics and Narcotics Precursors, government agencies, both the Government and SOEs, are to conduct urine tests.
"At least once a year a urine test is carried out, socialization is also carried out on preventing drug abuse, such as through brochures and social media," he said.
The Head of the Babel BNNP General Section, Birin Bendrayuli, said that the urine test would also be a means of educating the public to prevent drug abuse.
"We appreciate GERANAT's step to conduct a urine test as an effort to mitigate drug abuse within PT Timah Tbk. We also educate that workers can work productively without using drugs," he said.
