KUNDUR -- As part of its commitment to public and employee health, PT Timah Tbk, through the HSE Division of the Kundur Area, carried out fogging in office areas, employee housing complexes, and several public facilities in West Kundur District.
This initiative was taken in response to the rise in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases in West Kundur, which has raised concerns among residents. The fogging was conducted thoroughly in areas such as residential neighborhoods, mosques, and schools near the company’s operations.
"This activity is part of the company’s preventive efforts to help curb the spread of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which are the primary vector for transmitting dengue," said PT Timah Tbk's Corporate Communication Department Head, Anggi Siahaan.
He added that the company previously held seminars and awareness campaigns on dengue prevention in collaboration with the West Kundur Community Health Center.
Amsir, a resident of RT 17, Hamlet IV, Gemuruh Village, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah’s fogging efforts.
“Recently, quite a few of our residents, especially children, were infected with dengue. We are very grateful for this initiative, and we hope it helps reduce the spread,” he said.
Similarly, Ardian, a teacher at SD Negeri 012 West Kundur, also welcomed the activity.
“This fogging is very helpful, especially during the transition season like now. We urge everyone to keep their surroundings clean to prevent mosquito breeding,” he said.
Through this program, PT Timah Tbk demonstrates its commitment to supporting community health in its operational areas and being part of the solution to environmental and health issues.
