WEST BANGKA -- To prevent the spread of Dengue Fever (DBD), PT Timah Tbk, through its Division Processing Refinery, carried out fogging activities in residential areas, workplaces, and schools.
The fogging was conducted by the K3LH team of the Division Processing and Refinery of PT Timah Tbk and has been carried out twice throughout 2025. Spraying took place in several locations, including housing complexes, school areas, the Mentok BPM site, the Division Processing & Refinery office, the UPDB office, and the Tanjung Ular BPM site.
Fogging is part of the company’s Occupational Health and Safety (K3) program and aims to break the chain of mosquito-borne disease transmission.
In addition to fogging, the company also educated employees on the importance of practicing Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) as a more effective measure for controlling dengue.
Company doctor Dr. Karlsen emphasized that fogging is only a supporting effort. The key to preventing dengue, he said, lies in individual discipline in maintaining a clean environment.
The 3M Plus movement includes draining water containers such as bathtubs, buckets, or drums; tightly sealing water storage areas to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs; and burying or eliminating unused items that can collect water. The “Plus” refers to reusing or recycling items and taking additional steps to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
This fogging and health education program reflects PT Timah Tbk’s commitment to protecting the health of its workers and their families while supporting dengue prevention efforts in the company’s operational areas.
