KARIMUN -- PT Timah collaborated with the Pelangi Lestari Forest Tank Group, Pongkar Village, Tebing District, Karimun Regency to plant 2000 mangrove stems on Pongkar Village Beach, Thursday (6/6/2024).
This mangrove planting is an effort to maintain the coastal ecosystem in the coastal area as well as an effort to empower communities around the mine carried out by PT Timah.
It is hoped that the mangroves planted will grow well so that they can reduce the impact of abrasion in the coastal area of ??Pongkar Village.
Chairman of the Pelangi Forest Farmers Group, Pongkar Village, Deny appreciated PT Timah for its assistance and support in planting mangroves.
"Representing the Pelangi Forest Farmers group, I would like to thank PT Timah Tbk Kundur Region for supporting the mangrove planting activity of 2000 API-type mangrove seeds that we are planning," he said.
He hopes that in the future the mangroves planted can develop well so that they can reduce the impact of abrasion on their coastal areas.
"Hopefully in the future, the seeds we plant can grow and develop well so that they can reduce the impact of abrasion in this location which is becoming increasingly worrying," he said.
This mangrove planting activity was also attended by Faisal, Head of the Riau Islands Province DKP, Karimun branch, Riyanta, Secretary of the Karimun Regency Environmental Service as well as representatives from KPHP (Production Forest Management Unit) Unit 1 Karimun and representatives from the Indonesian Navy, Kodim and Tebing Police.
