TANJUNG BATU --- PT Timah Tbk also supports the Government's program to prevent forest and land fires (Karhutla). For this reason, PT Timah Tbk Kundur Production Unit participated in the Declaration on Handling and Mitigation of Karhutla with Forkompinda at the Kundur Police Headquarters, Thursday (04/05/2023).
The call for the Declaration of Handling and Mitigation was led by the Sub-district Head of Kundur, Syaifullah who invited all parties to work together, care and have a sense of responsibility to prevent and deal with forest and land fires.
Especially now that it is known that hot weather is likely to trigger Forest and Land Fires.
"With this joint commitment, it is hoped that all parties and communities on Kundur Island can coordinate with each other to prevent Forest and Land Fires from happening," he said.
Syaifullah stated that the joint declaration is very important because it involves forest and land fires which can cause various losses.
Kapolsek Kundur, Ungar AKP. Buala Harefa explained, referring to the 2002 Law concerning the Indonesian National Police, the Riau Islands Regional Police Notice Number: MAK/01/IV/2023 concerning the Prohibition of Burning Land, Plantations, and Forests.
"By looking at the reality on the ground in the last few months, the negligence of residents, unknowingly, often causes big problems, and this must be a serious concern for all of us," said the police chief.
He appealed to Inhabitants not to burn any type of trees if clearing land for plantation and agriculture purposes.
"Uspika, Kelurahan, and Village are advised to disseminate information regarding this Karhutla to all members of the community in their respective coordination areas," he said.
