PANGKALPINANG --- President Director of PT Timah Tbk, Achmad Ardianto received the title of Malay adat as Dato' Wangka Setia Alam. This title was given by the Sultanate of Palembang Darussalam through the Executive Board of the Indonesian Malay Cultural Customary Council (PB.MABMI).
The handover of this customary title was carried out simultaneously with the inauguration of the regional administrator of the Indonesian Malay Cultural Customary Council (MABMI) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province for the period 2022 - 2026 at the Mahligai Building, Babel Governor's Office Complex, Wednesday (9/11/2022).
This title was given because Achmad Ardianto is considered one of the leaders of the company who cares about the customs and culture of Bangka Belitung.
Chairman of the Indonesian Malay Cultural Customary Council of the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands for the period 2022 - 2026, Dato' Marwan Al - Jafar explained that the title Wangka Setia Alam has meanings such as Wanka which means tin, Setya means faithful and Alam means environment.
"Although what we know is that PT Timah takes tin and exploits tin, but still paying attention to the environment is still sustainable," he said.
He said that the awarding of this title was specifically for Achmad Ardianto because as a company leader who really pays attention to culture.
"This is an example for other company leaders to love the environment. Even though we have taken natural resources, we also love culture and society, so this is an extraordinary point that we value from a cultural point of view," he said.
Dato' Marwan Al - Jafar said that the purpose of giving this title was the trust entrusted by the people of the Bangka Belitung archipelago to Achmad Ardianto. So that later tin mining can provide welfare for the people of Bangka Belitung.
"Hopefully Pak Ardianto is more enthusiastic about paying attention to the culture in the Bangka Belitung Islands. He has been very supportive of cultural programs in the Bangka Belitung Islands. These programs should not be left untouched by the youth. Because this is in order to improve the ethics and morals of youth in the Archipelago Province Bangka Belitung," he ordered.
Meanwhile, Achmad Ardianto admitted that the customary title he received signifies the richness and beauty of Malay culture owned by the community, which contains mandates, hopes, and heavy tasks that must be carried out.
"To realize that hope, of course, I will try to carry out this mandate by fighting for the improvement of the tin problem and preserving the environment, which is my duty as President Director of PT Timah," he said.
He also invited all elements of society and Malay traditional leaders to cooperate and support each other in making improvements, especially in terms of tin mining.
"I express my gratitude and gratitude for the trust of the Malay people of KBB and the Sultanate of Palembang Darussalam who have trusted and awarded me this title," he said.
"This is a spirit that strengthens my sense of togetherness with the community in order to facilitate my task in realizing an ideal tin ecosystem and giving as much impact as possible to the community," he said.
