Preserving Malay Cultural Heritage, Youth at PT Timah Tbk's Kundur Production Unit Complex Participates in the Seven Likur Night Festival

KARIMUN -- The Youth Complex of PT Timah Tbk Unit Kundur took part in enlivening the Colok Lamp Festival which was held by the Tourism and Culture Office of Karimun Regency.

The plug-in lamp festival is an annual agenda for the Malay community in Karimun Regency. This activity is an effort to preserve the cultural heritage of the Malay community so that it is not lost and can continue to be passed on to the younger generation.

This activity was assessed by the Colok Lamp Festival committee on the 21st night of Ramadan, the lights lit up beautifully and were decorated according to the theme of each participant.

This Colok Lamp Festival uses two versions, plug-in lamps using lamps or kerosene and also using lamps from the National Electric Company.

The head of the light gate construction at the PT Timah Tbk Singkep complex, the Kundur Unit, Agustiar said that they took part in this festival to maintain the traditions of the Malay community.

"For this light gate, we will follow the one using PLN because kerosene is rather difficult to get. But for around the road we still use lamp lamps. Hopefully, with this the people around the Singkep Complex can be entertained because they cannot go home," he said.

Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk's Dendang Youth Complex, Randy, said they took part in this festival because it was to strengthen youth unity in the complex to work together.

"Our target is to take part in the Festival of Lights, of course, we want to win, but behind that the main goal is to maintain the cohesiveness of the youth and the community around the Dendang Complex," he concluded. (*)
