PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the preservation of culture and local wisdom within communities across the Company’s operational areas.
This support is realized through active participation in various cultural activities organized by local communities as an effort to safeguard and sustain local wisdom, traditions, and cultural heritage so that they remain alive and enduring.
Through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, PT TIMAH Tbk provides support by directly participating in cultural activities. In addition, these efforts are expected to help preserve cultural identity while also encouraging the growth of the community’s economic potential.
The cultural activities supported by PT TIMAH Tbk include a wide range of agendas, such as art and cultural festivals, preservation of traditional customs including Nujuh Jerami, Perang Ketupat, Sedekah Kampong Kundi Bersatu, the Rebo Pusaka ritual, Lampu Colok activities in Kundur, the Jering Culture Festival, the Ruahan Traditional Ceremony for Khatam Al-Qur’an, as well as the development of creative economies based on local culture.
Department Head of Corporate Communication of PT TIMAH Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, stated that support for cultural activities is part of the company’s efforts to grow and develop together with the community.
“Culture is the identity and strength of a community. Through support for cultural activities, local wisdom, and community traditions, the company aims to preserve ancestral heritage while also encouraging the participation of younger generations to continue preserving their regional culture,” he said.
In addition to playing a role in preserving cultural values, cultural activities are also considered capable of strengthening relationships among community members and creating spaces for collaboration between the community, government, and the business sector.
Yang di-Pertua Setana Jering Amantubillah, Dr. Sardi, conveyed that PT TIMAH Tbk has consistently supported the annual Rebo Pusaka Ritual of Setana Jering Amantubillah.
“We appreciate PT TIMAH Tbk for never growing tired of supporting our activities. Over the past several years, the company has always been present to help facilitate the implementation of this traditional ritual,” he said.
Similarly, Chairman of the Mapur Customary Institution, Asih Harmoko, said that since 2021, PT TIMAH Tbk has collaborated with them to support the preservation of indigenous communities.
“PT TIMAH Tbk is also actively supporting the preservation of customs and culture, such as the implementation of the Nujuh Jerami tradition. We hope PT TIMAH Tbk can continue to synergize with us in caring for and protecting cultural traditions.
