WEST BANGKA -- PT Timah continues to be committed to supporting wildlife conservation. Efforts made include the conservation and rehabilitation of protected wild animals at the Alobi Animal Rescue Center (PPS) in Kampoeng AirANGKAng Reclamation together with the Alobi Foundation.
Apart from carrying out conservation and rehabilitation, PT Timah together with the Alobi Foundation also releases animals into their natural habitat after being declared ready for release.
PT Timah together with the Alobi Foundation, the West Bangka Regency Environmental Service, and the South Sumatra BKSDA has again released a female pangolin (Manis javanica) and 1 male pandan civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) into their natural habitat in one of the Conservation Forest Areas in West Bangka Regency on Saturday (29/6/2024) at 17.00 WIB.
The release of these two wild animals coincides with a series of activities to welcome PT Timah's 48th anniversary which started this June. PT Timah's 48th anniversary carried the theme 'Moving Compact'.
Apart from that, the release of these animals is also part of the commemoration of World Environment Day. Previously, PT Timah also carried out several activities in commemoration of World Environment Day such as tree planting, environmental clean-up actions and others.
Manager of the Alobi Babel Animal Rescue Center, Endi Riandi, said that the released pangolins were handed over by the community to the South Sumatra BKSDA and the Alobi Foundation on June 15, 2024.
This pangolin was then carried out conservation efforts and has gone through a rehabilitation process at the Alobi Babel Kampoeng Reclamation of Timah Air Tanggang Animal Rescue Center and has now been declared ready for the release stage.
"Today we released two individual wild animals, one pangolin, and one pandan civet. The animals released are indeed animals that have been rehabilitated at the Animal Rescue Center Babylonian Alobi in Air Jangkang Pangolins are a gift from the Babylonian people," he said.
He said that PT Timah was committed to saving animals as evidenced by its support for the Alobi Babel Team carrying out activities.
"The collaboration with PT Timah has been in place since 2018, PT Timah regarding animal protection is still committed, to supporting and sponsoring the animal rescue center run by Alobi Babel," he said.
He said PT Timah continues to be committed to supporting wildlife conservation with the Alobi Foundation.
"PT Timah shows its responsiveness and responsibility towards wild animals, in Bangka Belitung in particular," he explained.
Endi hopes that all stakeholders and the community will support saving wild animals, as advocated by Alobi and PT Timah.
"The hope is that we all have to save, protect, and protect wild animals in nature. What is echoed by Alobi and PT Timah are small things that we can do together. Wild animals are the shared responsibility of all existing stakeholders, including the community," he stressed. (*)
