Preserve the Environment and Coastal Culture, PT Timah Supports Rowing Competition and Mangrove Planting with HNSI Bangka

BANGKA -- As an effort to preserve the culture of coastal communities, PT Timah Tbk supported a mangrove planting activity and rowing competition held by the Indonesian Fishermen’s Association (HNSI) of Bangka Regency in commemoration of World Mangrove Day.

PT Timah’s support for this event reflects the company’s commitment to being present and growing alongside local communities, particularly fishermen who are an integral part of the coastal ecosystem.

The rowing competition, themed “Sustainable Rowing, Keep Moving to Green the Nation,” is set to take place in the Nelayan 2 Area, Bangka Regency, on July 25–26, 2025.

Chairman of HNSI Bangka Regency, Lukman, stated that although they have conducted several mangrove planting activities with PT Timah in the past, this is the first time a rowing competition is being held under his leadership.

According to Lukman, the event received an enthusiastic response from the public. Initially planned for just one day, it was extended to two days due to the high number of participants.

“The community showed great enthusiasm. At first, we planned the event for only one day, but due to the large number of registered teams—already reaching 100—we extended it to two days,” he said.

Lukman expressed his appreciation to PT Timah for supporting various initiatives and empowering coastal communities through programs such as mangrove planting and the rowing competition.

“This event is supported by PT Timah. We’re grateful to PT Timah for caring about the environment as well as the social and economic aspects of our coastal areas,” he said.

He also hopes this collaboration will continue, so its benefits can be sustained for the coastal communities.

“We hope PT Timah will continue to support us, as these initiatives are very impactful for the environment and coastal communities. It helps maintain a strong emotional bond between coastal residents and PT Timah through mutual support,” he concluded.
