Prepared for Emergency Situations, HSE Department of Kundur Area Holds Fire Safety Training at Klinik Pratama Bakti Timah Perayun

KUNDUR -- As part of its commitment to occupational safety and health, the HSE Department Team of Kundur Area recently conducted fire safety training for employees of Klinik Pratama Bakti Timah Perayun Kundur.

The activity, which involved all clinic personnel—from medical staff to administrative employees—aimed to improve preparedness and the ability of clinic personnel to respond to potential fire incidents in the workplace.

During the training, the HSE Department Team of Kundur Area provided basic knowledge on fire theory, including an introduction to the fire triangle, classifications of fuel types, and common causes of fire such as electrical short circuits, gas leaks, and unsafe smoking habits.

Participants were also introduced to fire mitigation concepts in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia No. KEP.186/MEN/1999. The training covered energy source control, provision of evacuation facilities, formation of emergency response units, and the use of fire extinguishers (APAR), as well as initial fire suppression techniques using wet burlap sacks.

Dr. Puspa, Coordinator of Klinik Pratama Perayun, appreciated the training initiative as an important effort to prevent and respond to potential fire incidents.

“This fire safety training was very useful and provided valuable knowledge to all employees at Klinik Bakti Timah Perayun Kundur on how to identify and understand all aspects of fire mitigation,” she said.

The training is part of the implementation of regulation-based workplace safety and the company’s fire risk mitigation efforts across PT TIMAH’s facilities. It aims to provide clinic staff with the knowledge needed to prevent and respond to fires and emergency situations.

“We also learned how to extinguish fires, identify the types and categories of fire extinguishers, and understand the importance of forming fire response teams for each work shift,” she added.

This activity is a concrete step in fostering collaboration across work units to cultivate a healthy, safe, and emergency-responsive work culture.
