SAWANG LAUT -- PT Timah continues to develop Pokdakan Maju Bersama, Sawang Laut Village, West Kundur District, Karimun Regency in cultivating white sea bass.
Previously, PT Timah through the POS PELAUT program (Silvofishery Polyculture as Empowerment of Sawang Laut Fishermen) fostered this group to cultivate white sea bass to boost the community's economy.
The sea bass cultivation program, which was originally assisted by PT Timah, has now developed and continues to improve.
This time, Pokdakan Maju Bersama PT Timah released 3,000 white snapper seeds obtained from BPLP (Sea Aquatic Cultivation Requirements) Batam in the fish rearing pond owned by Pokdakan Maju Bersama, Monday (22/4/2024).
One of the extension workers from BPLP Batam Pepeng said that the Pokdakan Maju Bersama, which was managed by PT Timah, had been successful and was able to cultivate White Snapper.
The success of white snapper cultivation can be seen from the large number of white snapper fish that can develop well.
"Pokdakan Maju Bersama, assisted by PT Timah through the Sea Post program from Sawang Laut Village, has been successful in cultivating large-scale white snapper fish well, which can be seen from the large number of white snapper that are able to live and develop in this grow-out pond well," he said .
He said this could not be separated from the desire of the Pokdakan Maju Bersama group to be successful and of course this could not be separated from the support of members of the PT Timah MIND ID Mining Industry Holding in advancing the economy of the fishing community.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Pokdakan Maju Bersama Amran expressed his appreciation to PT Timah for creating this white sea bass cultivation program. With this program they are able to improve the economy for their families.
"As the chairman of Pokdakan Maju Bersama, on behalf of all the members, I would like to express my gratitude to PT Timah for the assistance and the white sea bass rearing program for us so that my members and I are able to improve the economy for our family, not just by making profits from fishing alone," he said.
He said that they were lucky to get attention and guidance from PT Timah in developing sea bass cultivation.
"Even though this program has been running and we can be said to be independent, assistance and supervision are still being provided so that this helps us if an obstacle occurs," he stressed. (*)
