Planting One Good Movement, PT Timah Tbk Planting Mangrove and Breadfruit in Serdang Beach

EAST BELITUNG - PT Timah Tbk planted 500 mangrove seedlings and 15 breadfruit seeds in the Pandai Serdang area, Baru Village, Manggar District, East Belitung Regency, Thursday (09/03/2023).

Mangrove planting is part of The movement to plant one goodness within the framework of the employee volunteering program, an effort to build a volunteer culture at PT Timah Tbk.

PT Timah Tbk HR Director Yennita said the planting activity was an effort to preserve and be good for the earth. Because PT Timah Tbk was given the mandate to benefit the surrounding community.

"We are committed to continuing to carry out social responsibility towards the community and supporting regional development," said Yennita.

According to Yennita, the commitment is carried out in various forms of activities such as improving the quality of life and preserving the environment.

The program initiated today is a form of PT Timah Tbk's concern for protecting the environment and building a sense of concern for others.

"Through this program, every employee of PT Timah Tbk is invited and encouraged to do good," she explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of Baru Village Husnul Khalik said, the potential for growing mangrove plants in the village is very much because in 2021 they have planted 33 thousand seedlings in the area opposite Assalam Hamlet.

However, the management is still not maximized. Therefore, his party welcomes what PT Timah Tbk is doing to plant mangroves and breadfruit.

"We welcome PT Timah Tbk's move because the area is surrounded by sea, of course, the planting can withstand sea abrasion," he explained.

One of the BUMN volunteers, Fauzan Desta Melano, said that planting mangroves could benefit the surrounding community. Because it can maintain water and air quality because mangroves also help people get clean water and fresh air.

"Mangroves are very important for this village to be able to withstand abrasion," he explained.

Besides that, he hopes that BUMN will continue to provide CSR to the coastal communities of East Belitung so that they can maintain the sustainability of their seas.

Breadfruit seeds are deliberately planted in Baru Village to support Baru Village continuing to be the MSME center for breadfruit chips so that raw materials continue to be available in the village.

This mangrove planting activity was also attended by HR Director of PT Timah Tbk Yennita, Head of CSR Division Ebbi Wibisana, Head of Belitung Production Unit Achmad Haspani, SOE Representative, 60 Timah employees, 25 Manggar 5 State Middle School Students, 10 BUMN Volunteers, 15 Serdang Berantai Pokdarwis Members.
