Partnering with the Bangka Belitung Regional Police, PT TIMAH Strengthens Operational Security System

PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to strengthen its corporate security system through the implementation of a Security Management System (SMS) Socialization and Pre-Audit held at Graha Timah on Thursday (May 7, 2026).

The activity is part of PT TIMAH’s commitment to building an integrated, professional, and risk-based security governance system.

The socialization event was attended by Deputy Chief of the Bangka Belitung Regional Police Brigadier General Pol. Murry Miranda, S.I.K., M.H., PT TIMAH Director of Operations Handy Geniardi, Intermediate Level III Auditor of the National Vital Object Security Management System (Sispamobvitnas) of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters Senior Commissioner Pol. Edy Sumardi Priadinata, S.I.K., M.H., along with other participants.

PT TIMAH Director of Operations Handy Geniardi stated that the implementation of the Security Management System plays a strategic role in supporting the sustainability of the company’s operations, particularly in the mining sector, which involves extensive operational areas and highly complex security challenges.

According to him, strengthening the security system is not only aimed at protecting company assets, but also at maintaining operational stability so that activities can run safely and sustainably.

“The success of mining operations is determined not only by technical capabilities, but is also greatly influenced by security and protection aspects. Therefore, the implementation of a Security Management System is extremely important, both for the protection of personnel, assets, documents, and the continuity of the company’s operations,” Handy said.

He explained that PT TIMAH manages a vast Mining Business Permit Area (IUP) with fairly complex security challenges. Therefore, synergy with security authorities is an important part of strengthening the company’s security system.

Handy also expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Police and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), which have assisted in securing operations in the field. He hopes that the implementation of the SMS will further strengthen the culture of security within the workplace and increase stakeholder confidence in the company.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of the Bangka Belitung Regional Police Brigadier General Pol. Murry Miranda emphasized that the Security Management System is an important element in protecting national vital objects and strategic corporate assets.

According to him, modern security can no longer rely solely on physical guarding, but must also be reinforced through systems, technology, risk management, and a strong security culture.

“Today’s security cannot rely only on personnel and physical guarding. Companies must build strong systems, work culture, technology, and security risk management in order to prevent disruptions before they occur,” he said.

He added that the implementation of the SMS is also an important indicator in creating a safe and professional investment climate. Therefore, synergy between the business sector and security authorities must continue to be strengthened to support national economic stability.

The socialization activity also featured presentations on the system and work programs of the National Vital Object Security Management System by PT TIMAH Head of Security Division Gugun Gumilang and Intermediate Level III Auditor of Sispamobvitnas at the Indonesian National Police Headquarters Senior Commissioner Pol. Edy Sumardi Priadinata.

Through this socialization and pre-audit activity, PT TIMAH hopes that the implementation of the Security Management System can run optimally and be applied consistently across all levels of the company as part of the company’s work culture. (*)
