Participating in Preserving Customs and Traditions, PT Timah Helps Alms Kapong Simpang Tiga Village

WEST BANGKA -- Simpang Tiga Village, Simpang Teritip sub-district, West Bangka Regency held the "Sedekah Kapong" custom which preservation of traditional customs that are held every year.

"The Sedekah Kapong activity begins with the khatam Quran activity at 15:00, on Saturday (3/9/2022) followed by traditional rituals from traditional leaders. In the evening there is public entertainment. After that at 3:00 the circumcision participants will soak in the water Before 6 a.m., a traditional leader will be circumcised at Simpang Tiga, and after that, a gathering will be held," said the Chairman of the Kapong Simpang Tiga Sedekah Committee, Bayu.

Bayu said that this year's Sedekah Kapong was also supported by PT Timah Tbk. Therefore, his party appreciates PT Timah Tbk for participating in preserving customs.

"We are grateful for the contribution that has been given by PT Timah in the activities at Sedekah Kapong this year. Hopefully, PT Timah will be more advanced and successful in the future," said Bayu

Similarly, the Acting Head of Simpang Tiga Village, Rohim, PT Timah was quick to respond to requests for assistance.

"PT Timah quickly responded to the request for traditional assistance 'Sedekah Kapong'. Hopefully, this assistance is the beginning of synergy between PT Timah and the residents and government of Simpang Tiga village.

The head of the Simpang Tiga village traditional institution, Darmiyanto, said that the Simpang Tiga residents maintain the customs and traditions inherited by their ancestors.

"The people of Simpang Tiga Village still maintain the traditions inherited by their ancestors until now, such as the Kapong alms custom, mass circumcision, dambus, and measles arts, Pencak silat, and many more," he explained.

The man who is often called Kak Ito also appreciated PT Timah for supporting the preservation of adat in Simpang Tiga village.

"We thank PT Timah for supporting traditional activities in Simpang Tiga village. Hopefully, this synergy will continue, and PT Timah will be more successful," Ito hoped.
