Parents Accompany Children to Selection, Placing Their Hopes in PT TIMAH Scholarship Class

BANGKA -- A total of 63 students from various operational areas of PT Timah (Persero) Tbk are currently participating in the next stage of the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program selection at SMAN 1 Pemali for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Out of 194 applicants, 63 participants have passed the administrative selection and are eligible to proceed to the Academic Potential Test, psychological assessment, and interviews, which began on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, and will continue over the next few days.

This stage is an important part of the selection process for prospective scholarship recipients from PT TIMAH. Through the Academic Potential Test and interviews, the committee assesses participants’ cognitive and intellectual abilities, as well as their general knowledge.

Meanwhile, the psychological test is used to evaluate personality aspects, psychological condition, intelligence level, and individual behavior of each candidate.

The testing process will take place across several of the company’s operational areas, including Bangka Island, Belitung, and Karimun Regency, with the Karimun participants scheduled to take the test in Batam.

The PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program is one of the company’s commitments to supporting the improvement of human resource quality in its operational areas, particularly through access to quality secondary education.

Siti Hajar, the parent of Muhamat Ilyas Ramadani, a student from SMP Negeri 3 Parit Tiga, said that the family continues to pray for her son to be given ease throughout the entire selection process.

“This is the effort we have made to reach this stage. As a parent, I can only pray that my child is given smooth progress and can pass as one of the recipients of the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program. I leave everything to Allah SWT,” she said while accompanying her son during the selection at the Pemali Dormitory of PT TIMAH in Bangka Regency.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Rizal, the parent of Zipilia, a student from SMP Negeri 6 Sungai Selan. He said he continues to provide full support so that his child can go through each stage successfully.

“I keep supporting and praying for my child to be given ease. My hope is that she can pass the selection, achieve her dreams, and one day elevate our family’s well-being,” he said.

The Head of Corporate Communication Department of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, stated that in implementing this program, PT TIMAH is collaborating with the Center for Psychological Innovation at Universitas Padjadjaran, the Education Office of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, SMAN 1 Pemali, and the Pemali Boarding School Dormitory.

“All stages of the selection process are conducted transparently and free of charge. This Scholarship Class Program is a concrete step by the company to improve the quality of human resources toward Indonesia Emas 2045. The company hopes that those who pass will make the most of this opportunity to learn and develop themselves,” she said.

Anggi added that the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class Program is prioritized for high-achieving students from low-income families in order to help reduce school dropout rates.
