Through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs, PT TIMAH strives to provide support that addresses not only educational facilities and infrastructure but also the development of students' competencies in the Bangka Belitung Islands, Riau, and Riau Islands provinces.
Various forms of assistance have been provided to help create a better learning environment, including scholarships at different educational levels, improvements to educational facilities and infrastructure, teacher training, and support for students participating in various competitions.
Through its Pemali Boarding School scholarship program, PT TIMAH has supported 958 graduates between 2000 and 2026. The company provides opportunities for high-achieving students from economically disadvantaged families to access quality education through a boarding school system.
At school and in the dormitories, students are not only given opportunities to develop their academic abilities but are also encouraged to build discipline, independence, responsibility, and positive character traits.
The Pemali Boarding School program represents one of the company's efforts to create opportunities for young people to pursue a better future without being limited by financial circumstances.
PT TIMAH's commitment to improving educational quality is also reflected in its Timah Mengajar (Timah Teaching) program. This initiative focuses on educators by providing training and professional development opportunities to enhance teachers' skills and competencies. The quality of education depends not only on available facilities but also on educators' ability to guide students and nurture their potential.
Recently, PT TIMAH also provided educational assistance in South Bangka Regency, particularly for communities affected by a fire in Serdang Hamlet, Jelutung Village, by distributing hundreds of school supply packages.
Anshori, Head of the South Bangka Regency Education and Culture Office, expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided by PT TIMAH. He stated that the donated shoes, Scout uniforms, and school supplies addressed the needs of children affected by the fire.
"A total of 210 assistance packages were prepared by PT TIMAH to support the educational needs of children at various levels, from early childhood education through senior high school," he said.
He expressed hope that the assistance would help restore the children's enthusiasm for learning while ensuring that their education could continue despite the difficult circumstances they were facing.
One of the beneficiaries of PT TIMAH's scholarship program at SMAN 1 Pemali is Kirana, a student from Selat Nasik, Belitung Regency.
"My dream is to become a teacher. I want to learn more and be part of an environment that helps me grow, and the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class program provides that opportunity," she said.
Kirana hopes that the PT TIMAH Scholarship Class program will continue so that more high-achieving students from low-income families can access quality education.
A similar aspiration was expressed by Nindy Syahputri, a student from MTsN Karimun in the Riau Islands. Her desire to become independent, achieve success, and make her parents proud was her primary motivation for participating in the selection process.
"I want to focus more on my studies, develop my potential, and one day become a teacher who can make a positive difference in people's lives. This program greatly helps our family and provides a pathway for me to achieve my dreams," she said.
PT TIMAH's various educational initiatives reflect the company's efforts to create more opportunities for the younger generation, particularly in its operational areas.
