KUNDUR -- PT Timah Tbk's Kundur Production Unit has won a mining safety innovation award for a mineral commodity company from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
This award was announced at the opening of the 2022 National K3 Month commemoration which was opened by the Technical and Environmental Director for Mineral and Coal Sunindyo Suryo Herdadi which was held virtually by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Thursday (12/1/2023).
PT Timah Tbk Kundur Production Unit won 2nd place in the Mining Safety Innovation event. This competition was attended by more than 1633 companies engaged in the mining sector. Of all the participants who took part in this activity, only five companies were nominated as winners.
Carrying out mining safety innovations with the theme Marine Production Operations Information System (SIOPL) for Monitoring Suction Production Marine Mining Activities. The Kundur Production Unit Team utilizes currently developing technology to help reduce the number of accidents during excavation.
Deputy Head of the Kundur Production Unit and the team from Mining Safety Innovation Anton Saputra said that this innovation was created to minimize the impact of accidents from mining operations.
"In this mining safety innovation, through SIOPL, we can monitor the position of the ship while excavating and find out what the conditions or soil culture are like. So that the information obtained quickly will certainly make it easier for mining crews to immediately take the necessary actions," he said.
There are many benefits of this SIOPL to support safety in mining such as by utilizing this the people in the office can also monitor the operating position of the ship, the position of the cutter dig, the mining area and mining data.
For two consecutive years PT Timah Tbk has managed to record zero fatality and continues to transform and innovate in improving safety in the company's business processes.
