PANGKALPINANG -- The celebration of PT Timah Tbk’s 49th anniversary continues, this time with a “For Red and White” community clean-up in collaboration with residents of Opas Subdistrict, Pangkalpinang City, on Friday (August 29, 2025).
From early morning, PT Timah employees together with Forkopimda of Pangkalpinang City Government, Karang Taruna Opas Indah youth organization, and local residents joined forces to clean public facilities, including streets, drainage ditches, and the Rangkui River area.
Under the theme “Collaborative Mutual Cooperation Speaks Up (Clean Rivers and Estuaries),” PT Timah employees and local residents showed enthusiasm and camaraderie, reflecting the spirit of mutual cooperation that has long been part of Indonesia’s cultural values.
The activity began with a joint assembly attended by PT Timah’s division heads, Pangkalpinang City Secretary Mei Go, Forkopimda of Pangkalpinang City Government, the Indonesian Army (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).
Pangkalpinang City Secretary Mei Go expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s clean-up initiative, which not only helps maintain environmental cleanliness but also educates the community about the importance of caring for their surroundings.
“We truly appreciate PT Timah’s efforts in caring for and protecting the environment. This kind of initiative fosters the spirit of cooperation and environmental awareness that we all must continue to grow,” she said.
She further emphasized that the activity serves as an educational reminder for the public to avoid littering.
“Let’s all care for our environment. Each of us contributes to waste production, even in small amounts. Through mutual cooperation, we can clean up waste and build awareness to stop littering. Thank you to PT Timah for supporting the duties and functions of Pangkalpinang City Government,” she added.
On this occasion, Mei Go also extended her well-wishes for PT Timah’s 49th anniversary, expressing hope that the company will continue to succeed and contribute to the people of Bangka Belitung.
Izal, Chairman of Karang Taruna Opas, said that their members actively took part in the clean-up initiative.
“The community has been quite enthusiastic in today’s activity, cleaning roads and the river estuary. We hope initiatives like this will be held more often so this area becomes cleaner, especially since the river tends to collect a lot of waste from both upstream and downstream,” he said.
Similarly, Karang Taruna member Hendri expressed hope that such activities could be held regularly to maintain cleanliness, particularly in the river area.
Previously, the “For Red and White” clean-up movement was also carried out in several of the company’s operational areas, including Toboali, South Bangka, Belitung, and Kundur.
Alongside this clean-up, PT Timah Tbk also held blood donation and free health check-up services through its Mobile Health Unit in Opas Subdistrict.
