PANGKALPINANG -- Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in supporting national and regional economic growth. In this regard, PT TIMAH Tbk continues to consistently foster MSMEs within its operational areas.
Throughout 2025, PT TIMAH Tbk, through its Micro and Small Business Financing Program (PUMK), has provided business development support and capital assistance to 117 new MSMEs that have become fostered partners of the company. These MSMEs are spread across the Riau Islands Province, Riau Province, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, and South Sumatra Province.
The PUMK program is part of PT TIMAH Tbk’s social responsibility initiatives, with a focus on sustainable economic development, particularly for MSME actors. Through this program, MSMEs are expected to grow, move up to higher business levels, and enhance their competitiveness.
Through the program, PT TIMAH Tbk provides not only financial support, but also business mentoring, management training, product quality improvement, as well as facilitation of promotion and marketing.
The fostered partners represent a wide range of business sectors, including culinary, handicrafts, fashion, creative local products, fisheries, agriculture, and services.
Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT TIMAH Tbk, stated that MSME development is one of the company’s efforts to create inclusive and sustainable economic impacts for communities around mining areas.
“The presence of MSMEs not only supports the local economy, but also makes a tangible contribution to job creation, income growth, and the strengthening of the people’s economy. Therefore, the company remains committed to supporting MSMEs,” she said.
Anggi added that through the PUMK program, PT TIMAH Tbk seeks to encourage MSME players to become more independent, innovative, and capable of expanding their market reach.
This MSME development program is also aligned with PT TIMAH Tbk’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in poverty alleviation, job creation, and economic growth.
One of PT TIMAH Tbk’s fostered MSME partners, Kardina (41), a woman from Kerabut who runs the business Pempek Udang Mama Sabil, said that she had only recently become a fostered partner of PT TIMAH Tbk to help promote her products.
“I only became a fostered partner of PT TIMAH Tbk this year. My goal is for my products to become more widely known. Many people have told me that fostered partners of PT TIMAH Tbk are often invited to exhibitions for promotion, and I have already been invited to take part in an exhibition,” she said.
Previously, she promoted her shrimp pempek products only through WhatsApp. By becoming a fostered partner, she hopes her business will gain greater recognition and that her turnover will continue to increase.
PT TIMAH Tbk continues to strengthen synergy with its fostered partners through ongoing assistance, ensuring that MSMEs not only survive but also grow and make meaningful contributions to the regional economy.
