PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah supports the Spirit of Planting the People of Bangka Belitung (Semarak Babel) activities which are carried out simultaneously in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province together with the Regency/City.
This is a form of PT Timah's commitment to supporting environmental conservation activities in the Company's operational areas.
PT Timah's commitment to preserving the environment is also appreciated by Forkompinda.
The Semarak Babel Program is a program initiated by the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government to reduce critical land in Bangka Belitung.
Deputy Regent of South Bangka, Debby Vita Dewi, in the simultaneous tree planting of the Semarak Babel program, appreciated the support of PT Timah which has supported the Semarak Babel activities.
"Today, together with Forpimda elements, I planted various types of trees on ex-mining land in the South Bangka Regency Government area, which is a Semarak Babel activity. I would also like to thank PT Timah and various other related parties who have supported the implementation of this activity," he said in South Bangka Regency Government Office Area, Tuesday (23/07/2024).
In West Bangka Regency, the Semarak Babel program is also being implemented on the coast of Rubiah Bay, Mentok, West Bangka by planting 3000 mangrove trees.
The Regional Secretary of West Bangka Regency said that Muhamad Soleh said that the West Bangka Regency Government was committed to preserving the environment.
According to Soleh, the Semarak Babel program is a form of education for residents to preserve the environment because it involves various elements of society.
"The West Bangka Regency Government appreciates the support provided by stakeholders, mass organizations, students and PT Timah who have participated in this activity," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the West Bangka Environmental Service Candra said continuous tree planting would be carried out.
"Currently, a total of 23,000 trees have been planted in West Bangka. Tree planting activities will continue to be carried out in collaboration with all stakeholders, the community and PT Timah," he said.
Meanwhile, West Bangka Police Chief AKBP Ade Zamrah appealed to residents to protect and support environmental preservation.
"We from Forkopimda Bangka urge residents to protect and support, work together in preserving the environment," added the Police Chief.
One of the residents around Hendrix admitted that he was happy to always be involved in tree planting activities. The tree planting was then continued by mass organizations and community groups.
"Every PT Timah tree planting activity always involves the community by providing seeds and planting trees. The 3,000 mangrove tree seeds were donated by PT Timah which were purchased from Gapoktan Tanjung Jaya," he said. (*)
