More Than Two Decades of PT Timah Supporting MSMEs Through the PUMK Program, Working Together to Drive Regional Economy

PANGKALPINANG -- Support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has been one of PT Timah Tbk’s ongoing commitments through the Micro and Small Business Funding Program (PUMK).

Since its inception in 2000, this program has consistently delivered positive impacts on the economic growth of communities in the company’s operational areas.

A total of 10,265 MSMEs have become PT Timah’s fostered partners from 2000 to June 2025, with 4,007 still active today. These partners are spread across various provinces such as Riau, Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung Islands, and others.

The PUMK Program is designed to provide business capital assistance, training and mentoring, as well as marketing support so that MSMEs can grow to become more independent, competitive, and sustainable.

With consistency maintained for over two decades, PT Timah remains optimistic that the PUMK Program will continue to serve as a driving force for MSME development and community welfare.

To date, thousands of entrepreneurs have benefited from the program, covering sectors such as culinary, handicrafts, creative industries, agriculture and plantations, fisheries and marine, as well as services.

Every year, this member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding also allocates business capital in the form of soft loans for MSMEs to grow their businesses.

PT Timah also nurtures and enhances the capacity of its fostered MSMEs through training and coaching, enabling them to continue expanding, create jobs, and contribute to community economic growth.

In terms of promotion and marketing, PT Timah frequently involves its fostered MSMEs in various exhibitions at both local and national levels. The company also provides product galleries, such as the Tins Gallery, to help boost the sales turnover of its partners.

“Since 2000, the company has been consistently present to help MSME players level up. Not only through capital assistance but also through training, mentoring, and facilitating the marketing of their products to broader markets,” said PT Timah Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan.

Anggi added that PT Timah’s commitment to supporting MSMEs is also part of the company’s efforts to boost the local economy, as MSMEs are one of the backbones of economic growth.

“MSMEs are the backbone of the regional economy. Through this program, we hope to continue fostering resilient, creative entrepreneurs who can compete in global markets,” he said.

This initiative is also aligned with PT Timah’s mission to contribute to inclusive economic development and support the government’s goal of strengthening the MSME sector as a driver of the national economy.
