BANGKA TENGAH -- The presence of PT TIMAH Tbk in its operational areas is not only related to production activities, but also carries a social responsibility to grow alongside the surrounding communities.
Through various programs focused on economic empowerment, environmental preservation, and social support, PT TIMAH Tbk continues to strive to become an integral part of community life, including in Desa Baskara Bakti, Bangka Tengah Regency.
The company’s presence in Baskara Bakti Village, Namang, is felt not only through economic assistance programs, but also through efforts to protect the environment that directly benefit coastal communities.
The various programs implemented by the company are considered essential in supporting local livelihoods, touching multiple aspects such as health, education, and the community’s economy.
Head of Baskara Bakti Village, Bahtiar Efendi, said that PT TIMAH Tbk has become part of the community and a partner of the village government in supporting economic growth and development through the company’s CSR programs.
For example, PT TIMAH Tbk has helped improve public health services through the Mobile Health Clinic and by providing medical expense assistance for residents in the village.
In terms of economic empowerment, he explained that PT TIMAH Tbk has supported fishermen’s groups by providing fishing equipment, including outboard motors for fishermen in Tanah Merah Hamlet and fishing nets for fishermen in Kedimpel Hamlet.

From an environmental management perspective, PT TIMAH Tbk has also supported conservation efforts by planting mangroves at Pantai Menuang and deploying fish aggregating devices, or rumpon, in the waters of Menuang, which are now providing tangible benefits to local fishermen.
“The mangrove planting has already shown results. Now people are catching fish and crabs in this area. We hope more mangroves can be planted in the future,” he said.
Bahtiar added that socially, PT TIMAH Tbk frequently provides assistance such as basic food packages for those in need, sacrificial animals during religious holidays, and support for livable housing.
“PT TIMAH Tbk has shown extraordinary care for the people of Baskara Bakti Village. Since this is part of the company’s operational area, their attention to the community is very real. PT TIMAH Tbk has become like a guardian and partner in helping our residents,” he said.
Looking ahead, he hopes PT TIMAH Tbk will continue contributing to support the welfare of the people in Baskara Bakti Village. For the village government, the company’s presence remains an important partner in local development.
“We hope PT TIMAH Tbk will continue to care for the community, especially in Baskara Bakti Village, and continue supporting economic development and the village’s progress,” he added.
Meanwhile, Asnanto, one of the fishermen in Baskara Bakti Village, said that the fish aggregating devices deployed by PT TIMAH Tbk in the Menuang waters have been very beneficial, as they have increased their catch.
“The rumpon deployed by PT TIMAH has become a home for fish. There are many reef fish such as grouper and red snapper, which has increased our catch. We hope PT TIMAH Tbk can add more artificial reefs in the future,” he said.
