Mining Knowledge, PT Timah Invites Students and Journalists to Explore Their Talents Through MediaMIND Socialization

PANGKALPINANG -- The MediaMIND socialization in Pangkalpinang was warmly welcomed by students and journalists in Bangka Belitung. The event was organized by Indonesia Mining Industry Holding MIND ID together with PT Timah at Graha Timah Pangkalpinang on Tuesday (August 26, 2025).

Carrying the theme “Mining Potential, Driving the Economy,” the event served as both a discussion forum and a promotional platform for the MediaMIND journalism competition, which is open to journalists, students, and the public throughout Indonesia.

The MediaMIND socialization in Pangkalpinang raised the topic “From the Land of the Rainbow Troops to the Nation: Time to Inspire Tin Downstreaming, Harnessing Natural Potential for Sustainable Economic Growth.”

MediaMIND is a journalism competition organized by MIND ID to highlight the mining industry’s contribution to driving the economy in support of Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045. The competition is open to journalists, students, and the general public across Indonesia.

One of the participants from Muhammadiyah University of Bangka Belitung, Dina Nur Alifah, shared her positive impression of the event. She said it broadened her perspective, especially regarding the important role of tin in supporting the regional economy.

“I am very happy to participate in this event. I gained a lot of new knowledge, especially about tin and MediaMIND. I learned how significant tin is in Bangka Belitung and how complex the company’s dynamics are,” she said.

“I am very interested in joining this competition,” she added.

This socialization is expected to serve as a bridge for students and journalists to better connect with the tin industry while encouraging them to produce high-quality and informative journalistic works.

Similar enthusiasm came from Afni Mawsuama, also a student from Muhammadiyah University of Bangka Belitung, who felt the event was highly valuable and enriching.

“As a student, I’m very happy because this event gave me so much useful knowledge and experience,” Afni said.

According to her, MediaMIND is not only impactful but also provides a platform to sharpen writing skills.

“Of course, I’m very interested. This competition creates such a positive impact. There’s so much knowledge to gain, and it also helps us sharpen our soft skills as future writers,” Afni concluded. (*)
