Two members of the MIND ID Group, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and PT Timah Tbk are exploring the potential for cooperation in developing a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) at PT Timah's operational location. This synergy is a manifestation of the commitment of the two companies to contribute to energy conservation, emission reduction, and sustainable development.
This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Synergy of Renewable Energy Development by PT Timah Tbk Business Development Director, Alwin Albar, and PTBA Business Development Director Rafli Yandra on January 26, 2023. MIND ID Business Development Director Dilo Seno Widagdo also attended and witnessed the signing.
PTBA through its subsidiary, PT Bukit Energi Investama (BEI) will build a PLTS to support PT Timah's operational activities. Electricity from the PLTS will be used for production, lighting, and office operational activities which are expected to contribute to reduced emissions and more efficient energy costs.
Director of Business Development of PT Timah Alwin Albar said PT Timah together with MIND ID Group continues to support the Government's efforts towards Net Zero Emissions, one of which is by using renewable energy to minimize the environmental impact of the company's business activities.
"In line with the vision of PT Timah Tbk to become a world-class mining company that is environmentally friendly. PT Timah must grow with innovation. One of them is the use of renewable energy. Apart from being efficient, it is also environmentally friendly.
Previously, PT Timah Tbk had also developed a floating PLTS pilot project in the Selinssing Reclamation Village to support the electricity supply in the area.
On the same occasion, PTBA Business Development Director Rafli Yandra said, Bukit Asam is increasingly aggressively expanding into the new and renewable energy sector as part of its transformation towards an integrated and sustainable world-class energy and chemical company.
"Cooperation with PT Timah is in line with PTBA's vision going forward. We believe that sustainable business practices not only have a positive impact on preserving nature but can also provide economic benefits and build PTBA's competitive advantage. With a sustainable corporate business, PTBA will continue to be present to support national energy security," said Rafli.
In line with MIND ID's Noble Purpose, the synergy between PTBA and PT Timah aims to create a sustainable life in the future. This step is a form of commitment to support the reduction of global carbon emissions, in line with the Government's target of achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2060.
