BANGKA – PT Timah has announced the participants who have passed the selection for the Pemali Boarding School Program at SMAN 1 Pamali, Bangka. A total of 36 children were declared to have passed, coming from various operational areas of the company.
After going through various series of selections, one of the students, Ninda Setiawati (15) from SMP N 3 Kundur Barat, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province, did not expect that she would be able to pass PT Timah Tbk's Pemali Boarding School program.
Initially, he said he was invited by one of his colleagues to take part in the selection. This was conveyed to his parents and he received support from the family for the good of his future.
"Excited, worried, anxious and scared too, while waiting for the announcement of graduation, when the day of the announcement arrived, we were already crying, because we were afraid of not graduating," said Ninda during the handover of the Scholarship class program last week.
He said that he received the news that he had graduated while attending farewell at school. Various feelings grow into one.
When he got home he immediately conveyed the happy news to his parents. The reactions of the two parents were different, the mother cried.
“When I got home, I thanked my mother that I passed. Mother was very happy, then I said too, what will I do when I'm away from Mama? There, Mama cried and I cried too. But mom said, as long as it's for your future, mom supports everything. "At that time, my father didn't give me anything, he said he was far away, so I didn't have to follow what my father said, but my mother said I've graduated too, what can I do," said Ninda.
Despite Ninda's sadness, she felt happy on the way to the Pemali dormitory, but that happiness was only momentary when she arrived at the dormitory.
"At the airport, Mom felt like it was hard to let go of my departure, so I said, Mom, I will make my dreams come true. On the way, I felt happy because I would be staying in a hostel, I didn't feel sad at all. "However, after arriving at the hostel, I felt lonely and reminded of my home and hometown, there I felt sad and cried because I was far from them," he said.
He had to learn to adapt to a new environment, and even though he still felt homesick, he continued to get stronger so he could achieve his dreams.
"I confided in my mother that I wanted to go home, then my mother said, there's nothing wrong with staying there, for the sake of your future, she said that you want to become a doctor, don't worry, everything will go on as usual," he said.
He became motivated again after listening to his mother's advice, his enthusiasm became even brighter to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor.
"From my mother's words, I started to feel confident and enthusiastic about achieving my dream of becoming a doctor. I believe my future is here, to become a doctor. "This is part of my effort to adapt," he said.
He was also very grateful to be part of the PT Timah Tbk boarding school class.
"Thank you, PT Timah, for giving Ninda the opportunity to join Pemali Boarding School. "Hopefully PT Timah continues to be successful, continues to progress and will be even more successful in the future," he said. (*)
