Meeting with Miners, PT TIMAH Tbk President Director Emphasizes the Importance of ‘Tin for the People’ Being Truly Felt by the Community

PANGKALPINANG – President Director of PT TIMAH Tbk, Restu Widiyantoro, met directly with representatives of community miners from four regencies in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province at the PT TIMAH Tbk Main Meeting Room on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

This meeting served as an important moment to foster relationships, strengthen synergy, gather aspirations from the mining community, and reinforce PT TIMAH Tbk's commitment to ensuring that the presence of the tin industry truly benefits the public.

During the meeting held at the company’s headquarters, Restu Widiyantoro emphasized PT TIMAH Tbk’s commitment to realizing the vision of “Tin for the People”, so that the natural wealth of Bangka Belitung can be tangibly felt by its people.

Following the agreement on increasing tin prices, the meeting also discussed PT TIMAH Tbk’s efforts to engage local miners through cooperatives and partnership models.

“This is not our first and last meeting—we will establish a forum to allow for more intensive communication. We want to improve the welfare of both the mining community and PT TIMAH Tbk employees, so that ‘Tin for the People’ is genuinely felt by society,” he stated.

“Our principle is that we want local miners to prosper, and for that prosperity to be felt by the people of Bangka Belitung,” he added.

Rizki, a miner representative from Bangka Regency, welcomed the solutions offered by PT TIMAH Tbk, whether through partnerships or cooperatives. However, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that tin prices received by local miners remain high.

“Of course, we welcome solutions regarding tin sales, but currently, the process is very lengthy. So, even if the price is high on paper, we experience many deductions at the ground level. We need a system aligned with regulations. We don’t want illegal fees. Sorry to say, there are bad actors—not just from PT TIMAH but from various parties—who make miners suffer. If PT TIMAH is truly here to help the people, it is not alone. We will support PT TIMAH. No matter what happens, we stand with the red and white (Indonesia), as long as the state and PT TIMAH treat us fairly,” he said.

During the occasion, miners were also reminded to prioritize safety in mining activities, in hopes of preventing workplace accidents. (*)
