Mass Circumcision Program During PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month Receives Enthusiastic Response from West Bangka Residents, Helping Ease Families’ Financial Burden

WEST BANGKA -- The free mass circumcision program held as part of PT TIMAH Tbk’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month under the theme “Tin for the People” was warmly welcomed by local residents. The event took place at Wisma Majapahit and Wisma Sriwijaya, Division Processing and Refinery, Mentok, West Bangka Regency, on Saturday (August 1, 2026).

The Community Service Month activities in Mentok featured not only the mass circumcision program but also blood donation and free health check-up services for the public.

The mass circumcision program attracted the greatest public interest. Expressions of happiness and gratitude were evident on the faces of both the children and their parents. For many families, the free service not only fulfilled an important milestone for their children but also helped ease their financial burden.

One of the beneficiaries was 40-year-old Desi Alena Suharini, a resident of Tanjung Village, Mentok. Since losing her husband nine years ago, Desi has been raising her four children on her own while supporting the family through her laundry business.

She expressed her gratitude for being able to enroll her son in the free circumcision program organized by PT TIMAH.

“Alhamdulillah, I was finally able to have my son circumcised and fulfill his wish. We had postponed it because we couldn’t afford the cost. This free circumcision program has greatly helped our family’s finances,” Desi said.

She hopes similar community programs will continue because they provide meaningful support, especially for underprivileged families.

“I hope this program continues because it is truly beneficial for families like ours. Thank you very much, PT TIMAH. May God continue to bless the company,” she added.

A similar sentiment was shared by Lia, 37, a resident of Kadur Street in Mentok. She learned about the program through her child’s school and immediately registered her son.

According to Lia, the initiative provides much-needed assistance during challenging economic times.

“This is a wonderful program that helps reduce the financial burden on families. It’s difficult to earn a living these days. This program is incredibly helpful, especially since my husband works as a daily wage laborer,” she said.

Arief, a resident of Bedeng Maras, Sungai Baru Village, also expressed his appreciation for the initiative. He accompanied his orphaned nephew to participate in the mass circumcision program.

“We fully support this free circumcision program because it helps families in need, especially children like my nephew who has lost his father. I hope PT TIMAH continues to grow and that programs like this will be maintained in the future. Thank you, PT TIMAH,” he said.

The joyful atmosphere became even more apparent after the children completed the procedure. Each participant received a gift package from PT TIMAH, making the experience even more memorable.

One participant, five-year-old Adam, a student at Pembina Kindergarten in Mentok, said he was not afraid of the circumcision and was excited about the gifts he received.

“I wasn’t scared at all. I was happy because I got a school bag, money, and lots of other gifts. I’m going to use the money to buy snacks,” Adam said innocently.

Another participant, five-year-old Rehan, also a student at Pembina Kindergarten, admitted he had been nervous before the procedure but was happy afterward.

“I was afraid of the injection, but after the circumcision I was happy because I received lots of presents. I’m going to save the money with my grandma,” he said.

Meanwhile, nine-year-old Rafa, a student at SDN 1 Mentok Elementary School, joined the program after his parents encouraged him to take advantage of PT TIMAH’s community service initiative.

“I got a school bag. I’m going to use the money to buy new school shoes,” Rafa said.

A total of 70 children participated in the free mass circumcision program as part of PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month. The mass circumcision program is one of the company’s annual community service activities held in celebration of its anniversary.

Earlier this week, the Community Service Month activities had already been carried out in Bangka, Central Bangka, South Bangka, and West Bangka Regencies. The program will continue in PT TIMAH’s other operational areas, including Belitung, Kundur, and Jakarta.
