BANGKA -- The mass circumcision program organized by PT TIMAH Tbk as part of its 50th Anniversary Community Service Month was warmly welcomed by residents of Belinyu District, Bangka Regency. A total of 84 children participated in the social initiative, which was held at Stania Hall in Belinyu on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The community's enthusiasm was evident from the large number of parents who registered their children to take part in PT TIMAH's free mass circumcision program.
The event is part of the company's Community Service Month activities celebrating PT TIMAH's 50th anniversary under the theme "Timah untuk Rakyat" (Tin for the People). It was held across the company's operational areas as a demonstration of its commitment to supporting local communities, particularly by improving access to healthcare services.
One of the participants was Arkha (10), who was accompanied by his father, Nurmansyah. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the program, saying it had been a great help to their family.
"Alhamdulillah, I'm very happy this program was held because it has been a tremendous help to us," Nurmansyah said.
Arkha admitted that he was not afraid to undergo the circumcision. After the procedure, he looked cheerful, happy to have had a new experience and to receive a souvenir from the event.
A similar sense of happiness was shared by Merlia, the mother of 11-year-old Rifki, who also participated in the mass circumcision. She admitted she had initially been worried after seeing several other children crying, but she was grateful that her son was able to receive the service free of charge.
"I am very happy that this mass circumcision program was held. At first, I was a little nervous because many of the children were crying," Merlia said.
For Merlia, PT TIMAH's mass circumcision program was something she had been looking forward to. She intentionally waited for the program because of the cost of arranging the procedure independently.
In fact, this was not her family's first time participating in the company's program. One of her older sons had previously taken part in PT TIMAH's mass circumcision event.
"We never planned to have the circumcision done elsewhere because we knew how much it would cost. That's why I waited for this program. Rifki's older brother also joined this event before," she said.
Rifki himself said he was happy after undergoing the procedure. In addition to receiving the free circumcision service, he was excited to bring home a souvenir, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Belinyu District Secretary Agus Rafina also expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming public response to the program.
According to him, the enthusiasm was reflected in the large number of parents who registered their children for the social initiative held as part of PT TIMAH Tbk's 50th Anniversary Community Service Month.
"The community was very enthusiastic, as shown by the number of registrations. I also noticed that the children were happy to participate, especially because they received souvenirs. Kids always love souvenirs like that," Agus said.
He added that the event ran smoothly, although the atmosphere was occasionally filled with the sound of children crying. Some participants even began crying after seeing others cry, leaving several parents working hard to comfort their children.
"We saw some children remain calm, while others started crying simply because they saw another child crying. Their parents certainly had their hands full trying to calm them down," he said.
Agus hopes PT TIMAH will continue organizing social programs such as mass circumcisions in Belinyu District. According to him, the initiative not only provides direct benefits to the community but also strengthens the partnership between the company and the local government.
"This mass circumcision program provides valuable support to us as the local government in Belinyu District. We hope PT TIMAH will continue providing assistance, especially through its CSR programs, as a form of ongoing collaboration between the local government and the company," he said. (*)
