BELITUNG -- Maryati (68), a resident of Kampung Parit, Parit Subdistrict, Tanjungpandan, Belitung, never imagined that the collapsed kitchen of her home would be renovated by PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk.
The assistance provided by PT TIMAH to Maryati is one form of the company’s commitment to the community, realized through various social programs.
Maryati lives in a house inherited from her parents, built around 1972, which has continued to deteriorate over time. Parts of the house, especially the kitchen, had collapsed due to age and decay.
In her daily life, Maryati lives with her sibling. The uninhabitable condition of the house has limited her activities, especially as she also suffers from health issues such as heart and kidney disease.
“The kitchen had collapsed. When it rains, I’m afraid of being hit by wood or metal sheets. When strong winds come, we feel very scared and can only pray for safety because most of the house is already damaged,” Maryati said on Monday (April 27, 2026).
She admitted that she had always felt worried whenever bad weather arrived, as the leaking roof and fragile structure posed serious risks to her safety. During heavy rain, water would often enter the house and soak her bed.
“I often prayed, wondering who would help fix this house. It’s impossible for me to repair it myself because I’m old and don’t have the funds,” she said.
Amid these limitations, Maryati never lost hope. She continued to pray and ask for help. Eventually, through the support of PT TIMAH, her kitchen was repaired and became a safer place for her to live.
“I often prayed that someone would help fix this house. It’s an old house and already badly damaged, with leaks everywhere. Last Friday, God answered my prayers when PT TIMAH came to help repair my kitchen,” she shared.
The home renovation assistance from PT TIMAH was received with deep gratitude by Maryati. She described the support as a special gift in her old age.
“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy. This feels like a gift in my later years. Thank you, PT TIMAH, for your help. I hope the company continues to grow and help more people,” she said emotionally.
With this renovation, it is hoped that Maryati can live in a safer and more comfortable home, no longer burdened by fear during heavy rain or strong winds.
This assistance is part of PT TIMAH’s commitment to implementing its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, particularly in helping underprivileged communities obtain proper housing.
Through this program, PT TIMAH continues to strive to deliver tangible benefits to communities in its operational areas while improving their quality of life in a sustainable manner.
