PANGKALPINANG – Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are vital in strengthening the local economic ecosystem. Developing local products and empowering small businesses is part of PT Timah's commitment to drive the community's economy.
Since 2000, PT Timah has consistently supported MSMEs to grow and become independent through its Micro and Small Business Funding (PUMK) program.
PT Timah's PUMK program provides capital support, mentoring, coaching, and assistance in promoting and marketing MSME products within the company's operational areas.
One of PT Timah’s initiatives to support MSME promotion and guidance is managing the Belitung Rumah BUMN (State-Owned Enterprise House). Through Belitung Rumah BUMN, it is hoped that MSMEs will continue to grow and become independent, thereby boosting the local economy.
Belitung Rumah BUMN, located on Jl Kemuning, Parit Village, Tanjung Pandan, Belitung Regency, is a choice for tourists to purchase local souvenirs from Belitung.
As the manager of Belitung Rumah BUMN, PT Timah continuously improves services there. Currently, hundreds of MSME products from various state-owned enterprise partners are marketed at Belitung Rumah BUMN, including handicrafts, food, batik, and more.
PT Timah also facilitates MSMEs to participate in various training programs aimed at enhancing their ability to develop products and enter global markets.
Recently, PT Timah supported the 'Empowering Local Brands, Enhancing MSME Competitiveness Based on Sustainability and Going Global' training, which was held in collaboration with various other state-owned enterprises.
I Gede Arimbawa Yasa, Executive Director of the Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Forum at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, praised PT Timah's commitment to managing Belitung Rumah BUMN.
He conveyed this during the opening of the workshop on Empowering Local Brands, Enhancing MSME Competitiveness Based on Sustainability and Going Global.
"PT Timah, as the manager of Belitung Rumah BUMN, has taken a positive step to demonstrate the company's concern for the surrounding community by providing training to boost business creativity," he said.
He added that this initiative is part of the company's effort to encourage the growth of new MSMEs and enhance the creativity of existing ones.
"We from the BUMN forum hope that PT Timah will remain consistent in its commitment to encouraging the growth of new MSMEs through the Belitung Rumah BUMN program," he advised.
"The presence of PT Timah in fostering MSME creativity is expected to support MSME growth and ultimately improve the community’s welfare," he concluded. (*)
