KUNDUR -- PT TIMAH Tbk has once again demonstrated its commitment to improving the quality of life for communities in its operational areas by building decent housing for low-income residents in Perayun Village, North Kundur District, Karimun Regency.
As a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, PT TIMAH Tbk renovated the home of Usman, whose house was on the verge of collapse. Living alone and suffering from declining health, Usman had no choice but to endure his conditions.
The livable housing program is a concrete manifestation of PT TIMAH Tbk’s concern for the community, particularly for those living with limited economic means and residing in unsafe and inadequate housing conditions.
Masril, Usman’s neighbor, shared that the community previously built Usman’s house out of concern for his condition. Residents worked together to help him, but over time the house began to deteriorate.
“Usman has been experiencing health decline and lives alone. He originally had no place to live because he was a newcomer. The residents worked together to build him a house, but it became severely damaged. So we proposed to PT TIMAH Tbk to renovate his home because it was nearly collapsing,” Masril explained.
In addition to helping renovate Usman’s home, Masril said PT TIMAH Tbk has also frequently assisted with Usman’s medical needs. He hopes the company will continue caring for the community.
“With his mental health condition, he sometimes gets hurt, and PT TIMAH Tbk’s clinic has helped treat him. We are very grateful to PT TIMAH Tbk for helping our neighbor so he can finally have a livable home,” he said.
Meanwhile, Acting Village Head of Perayun, Ulul Hidayat, expressed appreciation to PT TIMAH Tbk for consistently contributing to the welfare of local residents. According to him, with support from PT TIMAH Tbk, the villagers worked together to build a proper home for Usman.
“Alhamdulillah, Usman’s house has been fully renovated and is now fit to live in. The residents worked together while PT TIMAH Tbk provided the building materials, and this has been a great help for us,” he said.
Ulul Hidayat added that PT TIMAH Tbk regularly plays a role in providing social assistance to the community, and he hopes the company continues to thrive.
“PT TIMAH Tbk often contributes directly to our community. Recently, they also provided batik training, social assistance, and more. We hope PT TIMAH Tbk continues to grow,” he added.
