Lively Celebration of National OHS Month at PT TIMAH Tbk with the Timah Fire Rescue Challenge

PANGKALPINANG -- The series of activities commemorating National Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Month 2026 at PT TIMAH Tbk continues across the company’s various operational areas. One of the featured activities is the Timah Fire Rescue Challenge, which was participated in by nine teams representing each operational area.

The Timah Fire Rescue Challenge was officially opened by Vice President Director of PT TIMAH Tbk, Harry Budi Sidharta, and was attended by the Division Head of HSE and Sustainability of PT TIMAH Tbk, Rudy Nursalam, along with PT TIMAH Tbk employees at the Head Office area on Tuesday (January 27, 2026).

The two-day competition was enthusiastically welcomed by participants, with various simulation equipment prepared at the venue. Participants will face hazardous challenges such as passing through narrow corridors, climbing inclines, and lifting heavy loads.

Vice President Director of PT TIMAH Tbk, Harry, stated that this activity is an effort to cultivate a safety culture in order to create a safe and comfortable working environment, where all parties are responsible for security and safety in their respective workplaces.

He also reminded participants to maintain safety and team cohesion during the competition, so that safety can become a shared culture.

“These rescue actions are not only for the office environment. As a form of synergy, when the people of Bangka Belitung need immediate assistance, we must be ready to help. OHS must become a culture for all of us to create a safe and comfortable working environment,” he said.

In commemorating National OHS Month, PT TIMAH Tbk is organizing various activities, such as the National OHS Month opening ceremonies held in different operational areas, which will later be closed with a Grand Safety Assembly in the Kundur Area as a form of commitment from management and workers in strengthening the OHS culture.

In addition, OHS campaigns and education will be carried out through the installation of banners, posters, and OHS educational media; thematic safety talks across all units; socialization on the use of standard personal protective equipment (PPE) and housekeeping excellence; as well as the distribution of OHS educational videos and digital content.

PT TIMAH Tbk will also conduct certification training, competitions, and competitive activities, totaling 14 contests, including Best PJO, Safety Contact Video, Ranking One, Safety Innovation, Best SMKP Implementation Nomination, and others.

One of the competition series being held is the Timah Fire & Rescue Challenge, which took place today and involved representatives from operational units. This competition is not merely a contest, but also a platform to enhance practical emergency response competencies in the field.

One of the participants from the Belitung Area Division, Sarli Arisman, said that his team had carried out various preparations to take part in the competition, including routine simulations and physical training.

“We learned from previous experiences, so we regularly prepared both physically and through repeated practice. The most difficult challenges are rescuing victims, lifting stretchers, handling injured victims, transporting them, and even pulling a vehicle. All of this requires strong teamwork and solid coordination,” he said. (*)
