Land fires are rife in Bangka Belitung, PT Timah Tbk is ready to deploy a firefighting team

BANGKA – The dry season that hit several regions in Indonesia, including the Bangka Belitung Islands Province this year, caused many fire incidents. PT Timah Tbk also assisted the Government in dealing with the fires that occurred.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bangka Belitung Islands Province recorded that as of October 7 2023, the amount of land burned in seven districts/cities in Babel had reached 1,579 hectares.

For this reason, PT Timah Tbk swiftly deployed teams and fire trucks in the company's operational areas to help deal with fires that occurred in Bangka Regency and West Bangka Regency.

The PT Timah Tbk firefighting team has helped put out dozens of fire incidents in Bangka Regency in the August-September period. Similar to West Bangka, PT Timah Tbk has also deployed a team to help deal with the fires that occurred.

One of the residents of Rebo Fendi Village, who helped put out the fire that occurred in Rebo Village, said that his party was grateful that the PT Timah Tbk Damkar team was quick to help put out the fire after they reported this incident.

"We tried to contact various parties to ask for help, and we are very grateful that the PT Timah fire team came to help extinguish the fire. We cannot imagine that if the PT Timah fire team had not intervened, perhaps the situation would have been even more dangerous. "Thank you PT Timah for helping us," said Fendi recently.

Likewise, Head of the West Bangka Fire Department and Satpol PP Sidharta Gautama said that his party together with PT Timah Tbk have currently extinguished hundreds of fires caused by community negligence.

According to Sidartha, to extinguish the fire he relied on two fire trucks from PT Timah and the West Bangka Regency Government and was assisted by other institutions and the community.

"So far, we only need two fire engines from PT Timah and the West Bangka Regional Government to put out fires. PT Timah Tbk is also very responsive and responsive in helping to tackle fires," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Corporate Communications at PT Timah Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, said that PT Timah Tbk, together with the government and the community, were actively involved in playing a role in overcoming disasters such as this fire.

"PT Timah Tbk synergizes with stakeholders, the community and volunteers to work together to help handle this fire incident. Hopefully the existence of this Tin fire extinguishing unit can help handle fire incidents quickly and precisely," said Anggi.
